Complete Sphere, no EM Rail-Ejector Challenge (Dyson Sphere Program)
Ойындар
Skip ahead to 3:20 for the juicy visuals, 1:00 to skip the intro and get to the sphere building.
The challenge: fill in the sails for a 10k radius sphere without using any EM Rail-Ejectors, just node/frame deletion.
Music: Jeremy Blake | The Emperor's Army - • Jeremy Blake - The Emp...
DSP Playlist: • Dyson Sphere Program
I had originally tested deleting a single node of 30 structure points, and found that I got 40 sails from it when destroyed. So I was thinking there was some kind of ratio of structure points to sails where you get 1.33 sails/str point. That math ended up being wrong, and I didn't need nearly as many structure points as planned (it seems like you actually get 4 sails per structure point destroyed). I had originally planned on having to delete the outer layers too, but didn't end up needing to do that. And apologies in advance, I know a lot of the text is hard to read in certain areas of the video. It was tough to fit in otherwise.

I still remember the thrill of adventure I felt when I first launched to the lava planet for titanium. Or the sheer awe when I landed on the icy lone companion of a black hole. I still look at the way railguns fire and how their solar sails deploy in polar orbits. And then I go back to my first landing site that remains just how I first built it. Damn, I never thought a factory game would give me such fond memories.

100% agree with you! I haven't been this captivated by a video game in a long time. The comparisons with Factorio and Satisfactory make sense, but the space setting and dyson sphere mechanic add so much more to the sense of scale in this game.

So many people said this game wouldn't do well because the studio isn't used to making this type of system. Yet, it can produce such a beautiful scene out of its functionality. Amazing.

Use then to automatic make microchips to make more research. build more stuff, unlock solarpower and oil refeneries. unlock new stuff. Build more stuff. upgreade you mech so that he can fly. Travel to other planets, for ore you found not on your starting planet. Unlock automatic interplanetar logistic drones. Travel into new Systems for new rare ores that you found not in your starting system. And you final goal was to build a Dyson sphere a network of Solarcollector around a star for your homeworld that need the energy for Research to find a solution on your homeworld.
Damn, this series keeps getting better and better... I wonder if speedrunners will find a use for this trick :)
my eyes play tricks on me long before I get that complicated with a Dyson Sphere

"...took several hours to fill in" - translates into tons of time to gather excellent b-roll! Awesome video!
Imagine living to see this being built
When you said no em-rail ejectors, I thought you were putting the sails in manually. Oh how wrong I was. Great video!
This is the coolest, most fun I ever had playing a game and I try a lot of games to play. So crazy to think this is still early access.
WoW , speechless. what a satisfying video . This is art and crazy ;). Very good job ;) !
Jesus christ guy's such a genius, almost thought the pattern around the dyson sphere was a flower of life as well.

@@VoidplayLP you’re talking about a structure that’s several million miles in radius alone. A Dyson sphere also isn’t made for redirecting energy Willy billy and is meant for single locations, what you’d need is a Dyson swarm to do that. You’d then have to worry about melting you the other mirrors and in the end the logistical challenges alone make it extremely difficult. But it’s much easier on a dyson swarm as a Dyson sphere would be almost on controllable I think

Awesome! The multiple rotating layers of the frames were beautiful. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looked like you got more power from the frames than you did the fully assembled sphere?

Correct. It was getting 15.5GW with just the frames before filling it in. And after it was getting 13.9GW when the 32k leftover sails expired.
