Complete Review of the Modern Precision Rifle Chambered in 6.5 PRC.

Спорт

Complete Review of Christensen Arms Modern Precision Rifle Chambered in 6.5 PRC. This cartridge is by far the most accurate and farthest reaching I've shot so far. The accuracy of this rifle is elite. I see myself shooting .25 MOA here soon. I have to give a shout out to Leupold for making the best glass on the planet and Atlas Bipods for making great stuff too. And let me thank Hornady for coming up with this caliber!! This round was just adopted into SAAMI specs and ammo and components will become more available.

I love it too! I took 3 pronghorn with it this season. The PRC is a beautiful round. I took a doe pronghorn at 320 yards. I used Berger Classic Hunter. She dropped and had a hole clean through the size of my fist. Clean ethical shot. This caliber is amazing. High velocity in a short action... means less weight and more ammo you can carry! Thanks for the comment!

@@TonyStark-pi3vc Your choice will depend on weather you reload or not. There are more ammo choices for the Creedmoor at the moment...however... with the continual popularity of the PRC more manufacturers will be making more and more ammo for the PRC. I reload so I can make target rounds for about half the cost of factory. Reloading is so amazing. The PRC is superior to the Creedmoor in many ways IMHO. It has between 200 and 400 fps difference. It's big enough to be used as an elk gun but small enough to be in a short action rifle. With a suppressor or muzzle brake the kick is less than a 308. I love it. There will be more kick than a Creedmoor but not by much.

From the owner of a 6.5 CM Ruger Precision Rifle I can say "VERY nice rifle" from Christensen. Love the features and the way the stock folds to capture the bolt handle. I'm getting a Browning X-Bolt Pro in 6.5 PRC for western hunting since I live in Nevada. Great to see the cartridge's excellent inherent accuracy demonstrated here. Good shootin'!

I've put about 200 rounds through so far and the groups are still excellent. This isn't the rifle you want if you're going for 10 shots quickly... Get an AR10 in 6.5 Creedmoor if that's the case. This is for long range precision shooting and hunting... in terms of the big game capabilities... the 6.5 PRC is good for everything in North America. This has a lot of foot pounds even out to long distances. This has the same foot pounds as a 300 Win Mag at 1000. This is just my opinion but I'd say white tail out to 1200, muleys out to 1000, elk out to 800 and moose out to 600. Of course shot placement is everything. This is from everything I've read and know about this cartridge.

I'm sure the barrel is fine after 10 quick shots otherwise they wouldn't be in business. Either way that's not what I'm using this gun for. This is my 1000 yard rifle and my one shot and drop an elk rifle... Its like getting a nice car and driving the fuck out of it! Sure you can do it but over time the engine will need replacing... This rifle is still considered a "short action" rifle, which means it could potentially be constructed in a semiautomic platform. The reason is costs what it does is because it is so light! Very nice tactical rifle chambered in a great new long range cartridge. If this rifle had a 3 lug bolt I'd likely sell my 6.5 CM Ruger Precision Rifle and get this SA rifle in 6.5 CM, not 6.5 PRC. This is because the 6.5 PRC has too much recoil for competition. I appreciate lightening features like carbon fiber wrapped barrel and spiral fluted bolt and bolt handle for weight reduction. I have the bolt fluting on my Browning X-Bolt Pro plus a carbon fiber traditional style stock.

There is 16 inch 308 which is great length for a suppressor. Perhaps since it uses a standard 700 remington chassis I can just replace it with a short 6.5 creedmoor barrel. I lose roughly 200 FPS from 26 inches but I believe it is no biggie under 800 yards. There is also different size handguards depending on the caliber. One is their 17 inch handguard and other is their shorter 14 inch handguard.

I disagree. It’s a bad choice for hunting what? You obviously wouldn’t use the 8.5x25 for anything other than long range or pronghorn. I’ve taken 3 pronghorn with this setup in the last two years and couldn’t be more happy. You pick and choose rifles and optics based on the game you’re hunting. It’s not the best choice for deer or elk... why? Because the average distance for most North American game is between 100 and 300 yards/meters MAX! I can tell you, if I had a lower powered scope for pronghorn I’d be meatless. It’s not the best scope for super long range distance matches, of course not! Schmidt and Bender, Nightforce... many more. Leupold is hands down, the best all around scope for hunting due to its crystal clear glass, light weight, low parallax and durability... in my opinion. What else do you need to hit an elk at 355 yards or drop a pronghorn at 700...? NOTHING...

The bolt should lock with the safety on incase you were in a strange shooting station (say a pile of tractor tires during a PRS competition) and the position shifted just before you were ready to fire. Then you could put the safe on, go to a new position without fear the bolt could be bumped open and your cartridge lost. Yeah, my Ruger Precision Rifle, like all Ruger American rifles, does NOT have a locking bolt. Not good.
