Complete Motolug Motorcycle Trailer Review in the USA

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Complete review of the Motolug Motorcycle Trailer SE in the United States. I show the step by step process to assemble the trailer and talk about the many benefits of the trailer. Excellent product for those who like simplicity, ease of assembly, and the ability to easily disassemble and store the trailer.

    From the looks of it, this man drove his car and bike to some commercial parking lot, unloaded and disassembled everything, and then reassembled the trailer and reloaded the bike in order to make this review. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this review was filmed mid-roadtrip. That right there is commitment, but also a testament to how easy this trailer is to manage. A+ content.

    Agree with Robert Tate: this is a very nicely done, clear and concise presentation without unnecessary bull and/or wasteful 'filler'. The sound level is a bit problematic, but it's a small matter balanced against the overall authority and illustrative nature of the video. Wish more KZread presentations were this good. It would have been helpful to cite a few of the basic trailer specs (such as GVWR, etc.) so that the trailer's rated capacities are known. Otherwise, very slick and timely.

    I use the little Harbor Freight trailer with a wood plank. I can disconnect the trailer with the wr250 on the trailer and move it around with ease. The plywood deck I put on it holds my extra gas cans. This one looks so refined that even you're grandmother could use it.

    I think this is a pretty neat trailer. Could be stored on a shelf when you're not using it. Don't forget to add a safety chain to be DOT compliant. It's the first thing that Patrol officers look at your trailer to make sure it's hooked up properly. Also, if I buy this trailer, I will add plugs at the rear tail lights so that I can load the bike before I install the assemblies. That way I don't have to step over them.

    Motolug would recommend the 10" wheels if you tow ball height exceeds 16.5" from the ground to the centre of the ball. If you have 8" wheels on a higher tow ball, when you come to tilt the trailer towards the ground you may find that there is a large gap between the floor and the rear of the trailer (same if you have the 10" on a low tow ball). The benefit of the 10" wheel is that over the same distance travelled there will be less rotation reducing wear and tear on both tyres and bearings when compared to the 8" (but this is minimal).

    As far as loading with such a low approach angle I would have just pushed the bike, (probably very easy finding a slight downhill to load and unload it making it even easier than a perfect flat surface) I think would reduce any accidental clutch engagement and accident.

    Considering one of these. I believe this is the version with the slightly bigger wheels. For a normal car the smaller wheels are recommanded so that the back touches the ground when loading and is sits more straight aswell.

  • @VideoBoat
    @VideoBoat2 жыл бұрын

    Hi again Bret its been a few years, I hope all is good with you and your family. I'm writing you to ask a question about your video. Your creation of this video is what helped me make a decision to purchase the Motolug trailer. I too was looking for a trailer that was assembled with only one person, no tools, and can be loaded and unloaded by a single person. Also, because it breaks down, it made storage, in a bedroom closet possible. Because of downsizing and job loss, I may have to pack up and move, I'm now looking to sell my bike, trailer and others items I've purchased. Out of all the videos I've seen, your's was the most informative and it helped me purchase an, awesome trailer I've really only used it twice, to attend a motorcycle rally in PA It held up really well with my larger 1991 Yamaha V-MAX1200. My bike weighs about 636 lbs wet, and the trailer worked flawlessly. Having to wait for DMV to finalize everything, being that it was purchased overseas, it was a bit nerve-racking getting so close to the date of the Rally, but it worked out fine.. At least,, anyone purchasing it now, won't have too deal with the shipping and other stuff we had too :-) . I was wondering, if it would be OK to ad your video link as an add-on. to any ad that I might post for the sale of my bike and trailer. There wouldn't be any action needed on your part, and after the sale, (whenever that happens) I would look to send you a little monetary thank you, just for leaving that video up and running. I don't know if your sill have my email address, If not, you can reply to this post and we can work out a communication method, for the transfer of funds. Thanks again for all your help.. Take care bud.

    Now I'm just concentrating on proving that I had all needed documents submitted for registration. The second you mention that it came from overseas, the MVC turns you around, thinking that you don't have the needed paperwork and duties paid. So the next time I go down there, I have to find someone to actually listen to me.. I tried to explain that I physically have the trailer at home, meaning that I already had the needed paperwork done, and paid needed taxes and customs already. (Since they would not release the trailer without that being done).

    +Maier Yancov It was a challenge, to say the least. A lot of planning involved and extra work. I was able to get a "non-titled" trailer and still have a registration.

    Good day, The website offers a 10" wheel kit as upgrade, is this recommended or the stock wheels will do just fine? What's the 10" wheel kit for?

    You’d probably be good with either one, unless you’re doing a lot of cross country hauling. The 10” would probably be more suited for that.

    I’m not sure. It depends on how heavy your bike is. I don’t remember the max weight the trailer could take but you can find that out from motolug
