Super helpful stuff, thanks! Finally getting a splitboard setup this year after wanting to get into it for years. So stoked! I just bought the 2021 G3 grip skins because they were on sale. Then I started reading reviews about the glue being bad and I got worried... what you said at the end about glue was reassuring! I'm sure if I take care of them they should be fine!

Interesting, I’ve never had an issue with the wire tip connection but have broken the tip plastic piece on the g3

Awesome info, thanks for going so in depth. I’m looking to get more into split boarding. What is a good option for a first timer trying to get out to try it? I live in the northeast US and dont really know anyone who goes into the backcountry

Thanks for the kind words! I actually grew up in the NE and started splitboarding there so it is possible! First for a setup I would just get whatever you can within your budget that's similar in size/shape to what you ride at the resort. If thats a used board so be it, if it's a $1k carbon board than go for that. From there the best thing to do to start figuring it out is skinning at your local resort. Doing that chances are you meet folks who are doing the same thing and eventually find a network of partners to explore out from there. And obviously a level 1 avalanche course somewhere in that time. Me personally I grew up near buffalo NY and went to college in the Adirondacks. I started splitboarding out there by going with friends to the local cut glades on mountains and touring up at whiteface ski resort. There are lots of locations that have similar access in Vermont and New Hampshire as well. Hope that helps!

They're rebranded Pomoca skins so they're the best on the market really. The new tip and tail connections are really slick. I'm a big fan.
