    I have the exact same boat and wanted to thank you for giving me the confidence to install my float bags..anyhow in case you didn't notice (forgive my lack of proper canoe terms) the black "decking" at each end of the boat has two screws that go through the wooden support..those screw ends are kind of sharp and could puncture a float bag.. I just screwed acorn nuts on the exposed end and problem solved.

    Glad it helped with outfitting your boat! That’s a good solution to that issue. Mine came with rubber caps on them but the acorn nuts might be a better solution. Happy paddling!

    Everything I need to know in one video. Great content! Drilling holes in any boat makes me nervous but seems like the risk is minimal. What are your thought on lacing the entire boat?

  • @jasonbayens

    @jasonbayens

    Very nice. Did you consider foam saddles? I outfitted two canoes, each solo foam saddle. Comfort and good performance, but perhaps I'm missing a good reason for sitting on wood and web.

  • @jasonbayens

    My playboat has a foam saddle but this boat is used for multi week long trips and 10-12hr days on the water. I often switch between kneeling and sitting throughout the day to stay comfortable.

    Jay..just watched you and Tosh on his latest whitewater.. nice trip. Question? Why not use a removable yoke?

  • @jasonbayens

    @jasonbayens

    Жыл бұрын

    Hi Chris, This is primarily a solo boat for me so I only had to turn the yoke around once. The yoke also provides structural integrity to the hull when bolted in.

  • @jasonbayens

    Ya I can’t remember exactly where I got them from but it was online. Most electrical supply stores will have them as well. Some people use the plastic ones I just went with the coated stainless cause I figured they would never break.

    What size were those p-clips? I’m thinking about using them to creating some “lashing” points for lightweight items near the seats. 3/8” rivets, was that the size of the hole on the p clips?

  • @jasonbayens

    @jasonbayens

    8 ай бұрын

    I believe the hole on the clips is 1/4” and it was a 3/16” rivet. 👍

    I just bought the same boat and have been researching float bag installs. Is there a reason you went with the clips instead of drilling the hull? It seems like holes are dirt simple, but the clips could pull out. Im a novice, so these are just questions.. thanks

    Thigh straps and a kneeling position where most of your lower leg is underneath the seat look like a recipe for entanglement in a capsize.

  • @jasonbayens

    @jasonbayens

    Жыл бұрын

    I’ve never had an issue bailing out but I can see why you would be concerned about that. Like everything you should practice and get comfortable with it before you put yourself in a dangerous position. It’s easy to push the straps down off your knees and there is always the quick release buckle on either side.
