Thanks for this video, i have been looking at getting a laser machine so I ordered this last night and with your discount code I paid just under £237.00 😊
A really nice video, well done as always. Let me echo, and amplify your concern on laser safety. I find these laser engraver companies are way too cavalier about laser safety, and the potential permanent eye damage from their products. I know professionals working in telecom research who have permanent eye damage working with lasers much less powerful than the ones in these products. There are so many ways you can get stray rays, bouncing around a room, and ending up in your eye. A person should really take a professional laser safety class before plugging in one of these devices, but let me throw out one thing that folks should realize. Safety glasses are simply not one size fits all. The glasses have to be chosen based on both the power and the wavelength of laser being used, and have to be designed to not allow rays to pass between the face and the glasses. Understand that a stray ray could be coming at you from multiple directions. So, just realize the cheap pair you showed would offer little to no protection. Not a criticism of your excellent video, just a warning to amplify your correct intuition on these machines. They are dangerous. Thanks for a great and informative review.

Yes, attention to safety around these machines cannot be overstated 👍 Thanks for the comment. I did check the spec of the glasses Vs the wavelength on the laser module as I didn't know any better. I should probably invest in a better pair of they are not good enough.
Wow love your review ❤ got one for Christmas 😊
Another great video. The same familiar format which is the key to your videos for me. You can walk into McDonald’s in London or Washington DC and the fries will taste the same. The consistency in quality and format are what keep me coming back for your great content regardless of the product you are showcasing.

@@RickyImpey me too I've done loads of laser work I also got into cnc routers so am using lightburn to create stuff for that before transferring it to carveco and then milling them

Would it be difficult to change from laser back to 3d printing and back on the ender 3? Does the laser module also work on carbon fibre?

@@Ayeare no it's super easy I fitted a switch to mine to turn the laser on and off and the laser has magnets on to hold it to the fan shroud. However I 3D printed a bracket to keep it on so I can switch from laser to printer in a second

@@alexandersievewright3842 oh awesome! So the laser module can be on the printer all the day and the extra weight doesn't cause issues with the printer movements?
I am so tempted but the wife would go mad!
Interesting. Now you know more about engraving, are you onsidering getting the laser attachment for the S1 Pro and reviewing that? I havn't seen any well made reviews for that. I don't think I've even seen anyone tried to engrage a print they've done, it's all wood and other materials. I think it'll be interesting!

Yes, I would like to try out the engraving kit for the S1 Pro. I have a few product reviews lined up and I don't want to overdo them. I may actually talk to one of the companies that have been supplying machines about one🤔 Thanks for the suggestion.
Cool video. Never thought much of laser engraving other than the odd "would be fun" thing. Do you have the capabilities to test the 1.6W and 5W Laser modules from Creality for their Ender 3 S1 Pro? Would be really intrigued by it because it would mean that I can print and engrave if it would be a viable option. I think my wife would slap me with the frying pan if I bring home another machine right after I purchased my 3D Printer :D

Unfortunately I don't have a laser module for the S1 Pro yet. I may have to put one on the shopping list.
Hi Ricky. Well....I've taken the plunge and ordered one. As I'm a complete laser newb too, what KZread vids did you watch? Great review as ever.

Great, you won't regret it. I can't say I really found anyone who had all the information I needed. I did watch a lot of different people for different things. I think once I learn some more I will do a couple of 'Complete Beginner' laser engraving guides as I couldn't easily find what I needed. My advice would be to go with Lightburn as it is very good. Also, I did find some good beginner guides for Lightburn but I've just tried searching through my history and can't find them, sorry.

Hi Ricky. I've had a look on KZread and the best I've found is lahobbyguy. He really explains Lightburn simply and even I as a complete noob understand it. Check out his KZread channel.
