[Compilation] Renovated Double Height old Japanese akiya house

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

We assisted teacher Baba, who purchased Akiya house, in the restoration of his old Japanese house. This is a compilation of the year-long work, which included re-covering walls and floors using Japanese carpentry skills, installing a wood stove, and renovating the house into a Double Height Living Room.

Just the skill of piecing together all the beams together and replacing the first floor is truly being a master at carpentry. Dedication to perfection is a remarkable skill and you should be proud of your amazing work. I have always admired the beauty and style of Japanese homes like this. If I had the money I would love to have one built to live in.

@@kaziyahow long will that house last? Is it fire resistant? Ants, rodents other menace resistant? Flood resistant? And most important : eavesdropping resistant or I have to whisper while inside or perhaps install some kind of anti eavesdropping technology? Isn't the house has to be the place where you will be feeling safe and enjoy the privacy at its best? Wooden houses provide that?

I love watching the skills of these master builders doing the post and beam construction work. I have a question about leaving the bare earth under the floors. I would have thought that using a vapor barrier with gravel over top to keep moisture out of the floor would help. And is the new wood under the floor treated to repel insects and termites?
