My opinions on this monofin are very high. I got one 8 years ago, and used it often. Only recently is it no longer seaworthy, and plan to get either another one or similar in the future I'm a bit different in the mer world, and I am not saying anything bad about anyone else's style. I don't like floppy flukes as I feel like I am being held back, and arms are needed too much. Although I may look like a merman, I don't feel like, nor feel that I move like, a merman when the fluke yields to much. With the competitor, I truly feel like I have a tail, and it is exhilarating to slice through the water. That being said, if one wants to swim in a pool, it does require a new way of swimming and a new mindset. It can be hard to turn if one isn't doing it right, and practice is needed. I applied principles that I learned from watching, dolphins, aerobatics, and even fencing to create a method that works well, and is quite agile once one gets the hang of it. This one is my favorite monofin, but I know it is not for everyone.
I have a c4 mono-flap, it's very powerful and hard to use without training.
Really helpful! Thank you x
Very informative!
Love this review! Obviously, the Mahina is my favourite! Have you made a tail for this one?

I did, my painted tail was originally for this one, but I cannot really travel with this easily. The strap broke literally the day after this was filmed, so now I have to fix that
A proper good powerful fin
Here in the Philippines that cost of monofins is 25.0000
Do you know if the competitor monofin fits in a Finfolk signature fabric tail?

A competitor will not fit. You can find the dimensions of most flukes on their website.
I have been so curious about the competitor since it is powerful but $$$ for a novice like me. So I bought the Mahina instead. Still wishing for the competitor someday. I do wonder which luggage it can fit? The Mahina I was able to fold the tips to fit. I brought it to Cozumel recently and Mexican snorkel guides love it, lol. I did get a lot of curios looks. Maybe because I had a hard time putting it on while I was in the water, lol. My friend said I swam like a jet ski, 😂 I do like how the Mahina keeps me afloat when resting. I tend to sink. I wonder how much faster it will be with a competitor? Have you compared the propulsion of the competitor with the Mahina? Also does it sink in the water unlike the Mahina which floats?

Cecil Stoudt, the competitor is neutrally buoyant in my experience. The propulsion is much stronger than the mahina, however it requires a lot more strength and flexibility in the feet and ankles. This makes it more tiring than the mahina. If you want something in between, I recommend the finis Rapid or the Hydra both are are around $60-80, very durable, and easier to pack.

Berapa harganya?
I'm a proffesional finswimmer and that is a fin not even worth calling a monofin that's a really bad one.

I can imagine! The fin itself is at least 15 years old. I can imagine fin design and tech has vome along way
