How to survive them: run
Suggestion: what if your tongue never stopped growing e.g. 1- you feel you tongue bothering you and pressing against you teeth 2- you have to be careful when you close your mouth, you keep biting your tongue 3- you cant close your mouth (skipping ahead) you try to cut off your tongue, it just grows back…

Get as far away and put your feet towards the grenade b/c the shrapnel has less of a chance of hitting vital areas like your head and neck.
