Comparison: 2024 Toyota Rav4 Prime vs 2024 Ford Escape PHEV
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
As you may or may not know, the 2024 Toyota Rav4 Prime is a very popular vehicle. So much so that wait times range from 6 months to a couple of years (depending on region). So if you don’t have the patience to wait for one, is something like the 2024 Ford Escape PHEV a good alternative to the popular Rav4 Prime?
Both crossovers are powered by 2.5L naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engines. Of the two, it’s the engine in the Toyota that is more powerful with 177 hp & 165 lb-ft (132 kW / 224 Nm). The one in the Escape PHEV produces 163 hp & 155 lb-ft of torque (121 kW / 210 Nm). With the addition of the electric motors, it’s the Toyota once again leading the top trump cards with a system total output of 302 hp (225 kW) while the Ford Escape PHEV produces just 210 hp (156 kW).
Of these two crossover SUVs, the 2024 Toyota Rav4 Prime has a larger battery at 18.1 kWh. This enables it to drive for a claimed 68 (42 Miles) km on electricity alone. I managed to squeeze 72 km (44 Miles) out of the battery with climate control running at all times. The 2024 Ford Escape PHEV has a smaller 14.4 kWh battery pack which enables it to drive for a claimed 60 km (37 Miles) of electric-only range. In the Ford, I managed 55 km (34 Miles). It was a bit less than the claimed range but I did have to drive on a highway for a while which meant less opportunities to use regenerative braking.

i got lucky and found a rav4 prime xse in the color and trim level I wanted. The lease incentive (in the us at least) is what pushed me over the edge.
I've been watching your reviews with great interest! good job!

Thank you! Glad you enjoy my videos!
I got lucky in 2023 and bought Rav4 prime just walking in and buying car they had on floor. Of course it is easier here in Europe.

Is the Rav4 Prime the same in Europe as it is here in North America?

@@MGReviewsBlog more or less. I have the medium trim. Digital rear mirror, upgraded stereo and most tof driver aids but not automatic braking or 360 camera. We have premium but I didn't want it because it has 19 inch rims instead of 18 which give better fuel economy and ride.
A similar review between Rav4Prime and Mitsubishi Outlander Phev please !

Noted! I will attempt that if I can get my hands on an Outlander again.

Typical biased review from which Ford has to make the best of. You give the highest possible range for a Ford and then add another 5k miles to it and then give the lowest range for a Toyota! In reality, this Toyota RAV4 can go over 90km in the city purely on battery power!!!

If you can make the Rav4 Prime (North American spec, not Euro spec) go 90+ km on electricity only, great for you.

Interesting comment... It seems like you didn't like the reviewer's opinion so you offered your own biased opinion. That's fine and I believe you. I can even share from my own experience as I own Ford Escape PHEV 2024 and my usually commute is about 52km, 90% of it is highway (no A/C on) during which the battery drops from 90% (I don't charge above 90) to 10-13% (the worst case scenario). The best result I saw so far was a drop from 90%-25% on the same route, which would be equal to something like 80km of electric range.
