Here's a message from my friend who works at Shoei: "You can look for the model number on the cover of the long chin strap as well as the production date sticker inside under the padding. This should have the date, inspectors name etc. Also it should say 'Made in Japan' somewhere on the helmet."

Come on man...real around $900 and fake one only $135... Buy the fake as display only and buy the real one for safety on riding!! Coz the fake one once you drop the helmet they will have some serious crack lines!!

Seeing these fakes more & more in eBay now. Funny thing is they put pics of the real stock photo helmet mixed in with the actual fake helmet they selling. The differences are very noticeable and the price is always like 1/3 the original

Frankly speaking for those 1st time buying SHOEI can't spot the different between both ORIGINAL vs Counterfeit. They did very well almost 100% accuracy from ORIGINAL. SHOEI should do some simple way for buyer to crosscheck ORIGINAL helmets in the market for genuine.

i rather get the fake if the price is right you dont need expensive helmet when ur riding in a comfort zone speed... having problem on low quality helmet dont open the throttle fast 😂😂😂😂

Chong Aik did not offer insight of the safety and do a chrashtest. Not all but many of the counterfeit helmets offer protection of an orange peel on your head, even if the look and feel is very close.

@@FirstName-nf4fx bet you if a heavyset man stood atop them the real one would distort and sink just as much. Polycarbonate helmets are all mass stamped fakes of laid fiberglass Japanese ones that can be beaten several times, craze but not deform or penetrate.

These video only makes those manufacturers of fake helmets to improve., :D and i saw one on ebay, with fake one now uses carbon fiber shell and uses materials same as the original., hahaha....

LOL yeah because the original shoei x-14 is $899 and the fake ones on ebay from china are going for $299. Pretty obvious.

Damn, $300! These people buying them deserve the fakes. I don't think in almost 35 years buying Shoei street helmets I've ever paid only $300 for a Shoei helmet. They think a $300 X14 is legit? LOL...

Unfortunately the real result of buying the fake helmet is the the reason we all buy crash helmets - You will probably die using the fake one when you need it the most - in a crash! - I'm sure it was Bell helmets that used the slogan " If you've got a 5 dollar head wear a 5 dollar helmet" - It's pretty obvious if you buy one of these over the internet from an unknown supplier and it's ridiculously cheap, it's not the genuine article.

@@jimr5793 - I bought a new genuine Shoei GT air wanderer 2 last year from a genuine Shoei dealer and it cost me £300. It's brilliantly made, fits superbly and is total quality. It's not their top of the range but I know what I'd rather have on my head when it comes to crash protection. All these copies have never been tested and I cannot imagine that there is much research and development involved in making them. It's not even worth taking a chance when your life is at risk. Counterfeit clothing and footwear is a different matter as you are not likely to be killed wearing counterfeit trainers or jeans.

Do you have any evidence of your claim? no you don't. THey're all basically styrafoam inside with an outter shell.. You probably would live or die the same in both helmets.. What I would question though is the durability in ownership and it coming apart in every day usage maybe.. we need some long term test results.

@@DN-zh1bv - you've just answered your own doubts " We need some long term tests" - There are literally dozens of long term tests on crash helmets on KZread, plus before the internet existed I have bought many motorcycle magazines and newspapers with crash helmet tests since the 1960's. But if you are of the opinion that some far Eastern knock off is as good as a beautifully crafted Shoei or AGV which has met all the latest safety tests such as Snell, then go and buy one, It's your head with your brain inside, not mine - By the way I'm 76 and have been riding continuously since 1964 and when I was much younger had 3 accidents where wearing a quality crash helmet worked for me.

Holly crap, they look nearly the same, it's hard to distinguish between them, the only way you might tell is the inside air vents, but even that they'll copy it, this is crazy cause at impact it could kill you or save you, damn the fakers.

You said that the copy would be very cheap and that's the way to distinguish between them, I'm saying if someone bought a cheap copy and asked 500 dollars for it then someone like you and me could fall for it thinking it's the original because it's not cheap priced!!!! I won't buy a copy and sell it as original of course cause I'm not evil nor a liar, but someone might actually buy the copy and price it as the original and I might fall for it thinking it's the real deal .

What I don’t understand is why they can’t just make a real copy of their helmet instead of a cheap poor quality one ….the shield system copy works perfectly not a problem but where they fall short is on the reproduction of the shell and padding I would think with labor still being very cheap in china they could just go ahead and copy the fiberglass shell and interior padding as well they went that far just a few more improvements and bingo I mean look at the paint job on the fake one …. Not to shabby I’d buy one if they’d made those improvements you’d have a dam nice helmet for much less I mean $1000 bucks for helmet is waaay to much they really don’t need to cost that kinda money

at the end of the day it still pass and can be use.. protection?? just dont cut ur head while riding

That's all they're good for, that and a bucket to scoop grey matter in to after a crash though anyone who buys a fake to ride with will have a limited supply!!

The counterfeiter thanks you for helping them improve their ability to make better fakes. I'd like to see the test results for the fake. I wouldn't expect it to be up to Snell (which may be a bogus rating anyway) but do they pass DOT or CSA?

@@ariffahamad8019 one thing to NEVER compromise on, is a crash helmet. There's a very good chance that it WILL save your life at some point. With the sort of cheap replicas made in china, or in backstreet workshops in countries like india... you're likely to end up with your brain spread across the road, or splattered on the bonnet of a car. Immitation Gloves, boots, jackets/leathers could mean serious injuries rather than minor injures, which ultimately serves youbright for scrimping on costs. Inferior crash helmets if put to the test will probably cost you your life

It's never "a good time" to buy counterfeit. The whole idea of the helmet is to provide protection and the counterfeit simply doesn't provide any. Their PVC construction vs the fibreglass of the Shoei is not comparable, the counterfeit is literally just a cosmetic item and you may as well just wear a baseball cap!! lmao
