Awesome that you made this vid! The beautiful thing about NB 99x series for me is that each silhouette has its charm which depending on what you wear makes the fit. Or sometimes any grey pair can’t go wrong with what you wear, and comfort wise these of course are always amazing. Fav’s are 998, 1500, 990v2 & 3

A grey 993 is my favorite shoe of all time

Great review of all the history! My fav 99x are 990v2, 998, 990v6, and 996. I find the 990v3 cool but for my foot, the 996 and 990v2 mold the best. Likely just how my foot is shaped. Kudos to Steven Smith for such incredible designs over the years!

Looks wise 997 is the one for me. Comfort wise the 993 and 990v4 for me.

This is great work. More! My favorites are the 990v1 and the 998 (specifically the FLW homage). I strongly disagree with Steven Smith on him innovating dual density foams. There are models that used dual layers in the ‘70s. I also disagree with anyone claiming Smith as the Godfather of Sneakers. Jacques Chassaing has a much longer and more innovative resume. The ZX range and the EQT range established what we refer to as the modern running shoe. The ‘80s leather Bball shoe approach and style is primarily Chassaing. Feet You Wear - Chassaing’s team. The modernizing of adidas archives to create the Originals range was entrusted to Chassaing. The Predator. The Copa Mundial. The Lendl. Chassaing was the key to putting adidas back on its path when the French took over. Smith is awesome though. ‘Just gotta give it up to the big innovator of the ‘80s-‘00s. The 990v3 is iconic but my favorite has to be the 990v4. Slightly more sleek and the flag on the tongue is such a nice touch. One question I had was I read New Balance nomenclature corresponds to the quality. The 993 is better than the 550 for example because of the number. But a 990v3 came out much later than and is better than the 998 despite the higher number.

My fave out of all is the 997

990 v3 and v4 don’t get any better

51 years old, New Balance are UGLY and not as comfortable as you claim them to be. Speaking from experience, I've owned two pair. Addidas are as well uncomfortable.
