Comparing an Adidas NHL Retail Authentic Jersey (Indo's) to a Game Used (MIC) Adidas NHL Jersey

A lot has been said about the Adidas Authentic NHL jerseys so I compared an Indonesia made San Jose Sharks home retail authentic to a Dylan Gambrell game used Adidas (Made in Canada) jersey to see how different (or the same) they really are.

Bro, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for making and posting this video that so CLEARLY shows the difference between an actual on-ice game authentic jersey to what Adidas sells as an "authentic" to the public! As a collector who has bought dozens of actual "on-ice game authentic" jerseys Made in Canada by CCM, Koho, and Reebok from 1993-2006, I'm appalled at what Adidas is allowed to sell us as an authentic jersey. Like you, I want my jerseys to be identical to what the players actually wear during the game in every sport. That's what I've bought in the past until Adidas chose to pad their profit margins by selling us cheaper made products made in Indonesia instead of the stuff we were used to buying Made in Canada for about the same price difference between authentic and replica jerseys ($50-60). A new replica or "Premier" jersey used to cost about $60-90 over time, while an on-ice game authentic one would cost about $100-150 over the same period of time. Numbering obviously would be extra. Had I known these FAKE authentic jerseys Adidas sells at retail aren't what the players wear on-ice, I might not have purchased 3 of them or at least I would have liked to know before hand. The retail authentics are nothing more than fancier replicas compared to the Fanatics Breakaway jerseys. Do I prefer them over the Fanatics ones? Of course, but it feels like a ripoff to pay almost $200 for a blank replica, that I have to then pay another $100 to get stitched numbering for at a 3rd party or official team store. The NHL authorized this theft and that REALLY disappoints me. I expect more and we deserve better as fans and collectors. 😢

Thanks a lot for your comment! I agree with everything you stated. I also may not have bought some of the Adidas "authentics" that I have bought if I would have known how different they are from the gamers. When it comes to jerseys, Authentic should mean exactly what is worn in field/court/ice or at least, extremely close.

Thanks bro! I agree! I thought there wasn't that much of a difference until I was able to compare them in hand and I could really tell. It does suck because the smallest size I can find is 56 and because they're usually game used they usually cost a lot so to get one for a decent price, you have to go with a random player.

IMO Adidas has done a terrible job with the retail jerseys. I have a jersey back from when Reebok was making the retail ones and I will never get rid of it. The difference in quality is crazy. Also fight straps on a retail jersey is just insane

The Game Jersey is by faaaar superior in Quality, Durability and Appearance. But the Indo Jersey is by faaaaaar more comfortable and wearable. The MIC GAME JERSEYS (NHL and NFL) are tooooo heavy for us non players. If you are a collector i certainly recommend the Field Jersey but for Street wear the Indo is a Perfect alternative in terms of wearability and comfort. Nice comparison bro. You nailed it. @@BayAreaThrowbacks True. The issue is Authentic jerseys also require lots of care and dry cleaning as the name plates and numbers do crease easily. Blank Indo Jerseys can be easily put in a washer and cold water and hanged to dry. I used to spend loads of money on Authentic Jersey but given how delicate and heavy they are and expensive to Dry Clean I now purchase Made In Indonesia ADIDAS Jerseys Blanks. Thanks again bro

I understand that the MiC authentic (on ice) versions are thicker and tend to be uncomfortable to wear but the main issue I am having with Adidas is stop saying the retail Primegreen is “authentic” and price it accordingly. Like Reebok did with their replicas. They are totally misleading people and gouging them on the price of the Indo. Most people think the Indo made Primegreen is “authentic” because they paid $225 to $350 for it. Adidas has been laughing for a while now. I hope the class action suit kicks their ass.

Excellent comparison! For not being primarily a hockey jersey collector, you still made one of the most detailed comparisons I’ve seen. One thing I’ve always wondered is do the retail indos have the “drop back” game cut? I’m to understand the sizing numbers are also not equivalent in size, example a 56 retail is smaller than a gamer 56. Nice job!

I wear a size 50 and I did get a MIC game used one of the Red Wings Fabbri and he's a 54 but when I got it I was like this looks like a 50 and when I compared the two it basically was the only difference was the arms and the girth was slightly bigger because they wear pads. I also got some old CCM jerseys of both NHL and AHL and both are on ice the way we should still be able to buy them. I only hope Fanatics lets us buy on ice ones like Reebok and CCM used to.

But didn't know the writing on the inside of the collar or holes in the vents were different. Why did you get a 46? Is it for your lady? Or you really like tight fitting clothing? The smallest size pro stock are made is 52. Which would probably fit you perfectly. But most players don't wear that size.

Yes, unfortunately they are just high end replicas even though they are listed as "authentics". The only way to get the Adidas made in Canada versions like the players wear is to get either team issued or game used ones. You can find a lot on eBay or just by reaching out to the game used store at the arenas and seeing what their inventory is.
