    Thank you.If you're not sure of the aluminium composition of the parent alloy, is it best to go for an ali-silicon or ali-magnesium filler?

    There are a lot of good inexpensive import inverters nowadays. We like the Everlast brand, as well as the Longevity brand, but there are other such as AHP as well.     I've had a Miller water cooled 200dx for a couple of years now and mostly weld broken atv and motorcycle engine cases which are usually covered in oil. I've cleaned and cleaned them before welding and have had decent results until lately I found that balling the tungsten with a copper plate seems to have helped considerably! Is this just a fluke or am I on to something here? I grind my 2% ceriated tungsten to a sharp point then use the copper plate to form the ball with the foot control. I never hear you doing this before any of your aluminum welding but I do notice a ball on the end of your electrode. I get a lot of black that comes to the suface sometimes but I just stop and brush it off then run another pass over it. Thanks

    This is something that i also see and hear a lot from these guy's, that your tungsten electrode has to be and stay pointed, but i see that they are frequently using their electrodes dull or balled at the tips and they get the same results as them being pointed😕💡I've seen and heard many people give directions/instructions on procedures just to make it seem as if it's some super important thing that has to be done just to make it look as if it's harder than what it actually is😕 It doesn't make sense to me why they do this😞 I do believe and understand the possible contamination factor if your electrode touches the part, that it'll contaminate your work but that pointed tip i think is bull😔

    Typically you will use a sharp point on your tungsten for steel and a balled end for aluminum.

    Wyatt Having used a cleaning product on aluminum such as a acid for aluminum what is your thoughts on acid vs. acetone - as acetone can be absorbed into the internal organs I have also tried a commercial brake cleaner to clean the aluminum prior to welding also had a shop experience when the trash can went up after it was holding the cleaner OOPS art

    I thought I should let you know, using brake cleaner and welding can apparently make phosphene gas which is deadly, look it up.

    phil p are you talking about chlorinated brake cleaner? Which would release chlorine gas when heated

    @@ghettobikelife8833 actually , chlorinated brake cleaner or even trichloretalyne or perchlorethelyne releases phosgene gas when heated or exposed to Ultraviolet light.......a very deadly gas used in WWI to kill the enemy..........

    Hi Art, a bit late answering your question, but Acetone, xylene, alcohol, toluene, mek, lacquer thinner are all used to remove oils from he aluminum, not the aluminum oxide, for that you would use a Base type cleaner, sodium hydroxide [oven cleaner] or something like Purple Power, which is a milder version.....it will dissolve the aluminum if left long enough......so be wary and go easy, as far as an acid to use, hydrofluoric is a type used in many aluminum brightness, but in very low quantities, it is a deadly product to be using as it is absorbed into your bones and removes calcium.....and very fast.....sometimes it is combined with other acids like nitric and sulfuric......it removes the aluminum oxide layer..... Unless your materials really dirty, you are better off not using a chemical cleaner as you need to remove that with water and the steps involved are not worthy he hassle....believe me, I know as I have tried many products over the years.....a gentle brushing in one direction with a stainless hand brush, you know the cordless kind is all you need.....try not to use a power brush, as that will imbed Aluminum Oxide into the base......on occasion, I will use a Scotchbrite [woven abrasive] by hand or even on a slow speed grinder ......after all brushing, I will go over one more time with one of the solvents listed above [the acetones, etc.] All solvents and chemical are harmful if not handled smartly......use common sense and do not take a bath in them and you will be ok.....nitrile gloves and of course eye protection is not a bad idea, and a respirator is good too......and keep your trash cans at a distance with your solvent soaked rags, do not use petroleum based products like mineral spirits unless you go over with the acetone type after, as it will leave an oily residue with hydrocarbons and you will no you have made a mistake right away, I hope this may help some of you out there.....best regards, Paul Paulie Brown from Weld.com

    Hi Mr T. Wouldn't you make sure that the plate was cleaned with acetone too? I just supposed you did but you never mentioned it. Also, is that the sort of noise you would expect when welding aluminium? Cheers and thanks for the vid.

    Yes, the Aluminum was cleaned prior to welding. The noise you are referring to is normal when welding in AC mode.

    That sound you hear is the current alternating from positive to negative. The pitch of the sound is determined by set welding AC frequency which you change for different application

    Mr.Tig must've been running quite a lot of AC cleaning or had wrong tungsten setup, the arc on the second filler test was going crazy all over the place :O

    Hi Mr. Tig , ON The video I think you have turn the tube around In the welding part you have the big hole in the front when you do the review you have the small hole towards the camera , regards P from Sweden

    bruh this is cool but ur tungstens all over the place. also u could try cleaning ur piece b4 u start that helps 2. cool stuff tho
