Almost bought a 270 for my 4Runner, didn’t even think about the hatch. Ordered the 180, thanks for the advice!!

Very nice video! Does the back hatch of the 4Runner open up all the way with the 180 awning fully deployed? Or do you have to open up the back hatch all the way before deploying the awning? Meaning, you have to partially collapse the awning if you wanted to then close your back hatch?

It depends on the mounting method. I have a hardshell RTT mounted to low profile cross bars and the awning mounted to the crossbars. Mine interferes with the hatch by about 1-2 inches so I have to collapse the awning when closing/opening the hatch which also means I have to loosen the back strap a bit. Even when the hatch is open, I can't fully open to 180. I'm probably at 178 lol but I can see the slack in the awning.

Does the 270 need to be completely folded out or can you open it partially for example to 180 degrees?
How did you mount the 180 to the 4Runner rack? Did you use the brackets that came with awning? I have a Prinsu and worried it won't allow me to open the 180 fully.

Prinsu rack would be just fine with the provided bracket of the 180

They sure can. The material and fabric are strong, and it also has poles that you can drop down for extra support
