i love the way she sings the “leave me alone right now!”

I see lots of comments interpreting the song that this young woman is lamenting being compared to another girl, and while I think it's awesome people can connect with a song and help them process their feelings through it, I personally see a different interpretation. I think her self esteem is so unstable she's broken her identity down in terms of "failure" and "success" and thus views herself as two halves: the one girl she is and the girl others expect to her be, hating herself for not being able to reach the expectations of others in the end and considering ending her life which, at this point, she considers a failure since she believes she hasn't pleased those around her. In the end, she realizes the only person's approval she truly needs is her own and those who really love her will stick by her regardless of her performance/ ability to impress/ succeed. Being loved by someone should not be determined by what you bring to the table, it should be based on who you are as a person. This girl is trying to reason how she is making assumptions about how others see her and realizes the people who really love her dont have those expectations, rather they love her for being herself. In the end, evidenced by the picture of the two similar-appearing young women holding hands who then seemingly merge into one (now whole) person, the girl is able to accept and love herself again.
