It's telling that you see tier 1 SOF guys around the world rocking the T2 in the wild even though they have access to M5s. I'm glad I got a T2 over an m5, and I've always thought it's kind of nuts that anyone would go another route.

Aimpoint needs to figure it out. Their lack of innovation, price tag, and most recent emitter downgrade has made them outclassed by far less expensive optics, such as the new Romeo 4T pro. Ive had 6 Aimpoints, 5 Holosuns and 1 Romeo 4T pro and guess which ones I sold.

Aimpoint only cares about MIL and LE sales. LE sales is the only reason something like the Duty RDS exists. The PRO was getting long in the tooth and a lot of LE departments/agencies use it. That said, I've seen police departments with Holosuns, Vortex dots, and various Sigs (everything from the Romeo 5 to the 4T and new 4T Pro variants). Obviously whatever optics end up on patrol rifles depends on a department's budget, but you have to wonder why any department looking to buy rifle optics would bother with something like the Duty RDS when the Romeo 4T Pro exists, unless Aimpoint is offering killer deals on Duty RDSes (and I doubt it).

Aimpoint is a proven go to war optic. Could they use updates and upgrades? Sure. But are SIG and Holosun ect. proven at the special operations level? No.

​@@mysteryman33333procurement is a very shady game. Oftentimes it's about getting something in front of a procurement official that he would never have heard of because he's not a gun guy. Most cops know less than nothing about guns and related accessories, and the guys in charge of approving equipment probably know as much as your typical gun guy who builds his AR from parts he finds at the gun show. Those that know more tend to be older dudes set in their ways. The Duty RDS was made for departments with more limited budgets who mandate Aimpoints. Few departments will probably ever adopt Holosuns due to being made in China. I've heard of a few that allow Vortex and Primary Arms, and some authorize Sig optics but usually those departments require officers to buy their own optics anyways.

I’ve always said, the only reason you’d have an M5 over a T2 is because you were issued the M5, just seems like it’s kind of pointless

Aimpoint made the M5 per MIL/LE customer request, for that exact reason to have a T2 sized optic that takes a more common battery. I own the M5s and like it better than my T2.

You should do an update video on the state of your gen 4 glock 19. Would be really interesting to see the wear and tear on a gun with so many rounds on it.

its not new but youtube still surprises me all the time. Haven't seen any of your content in months. thought you went ghost and stopped posting. searched your channel and low and behold I had been unsubscribed.

The M5 was made in response to a Department of State Security Service request for a red dot that took a AAA due to those batteries being more common overseas. If you need to run to a cornerstore in Bangkok or Kabul you're probably more likely to find AAAs than coin type batteries. I'd guess that the brightness settings issues are due to either power conservation moves with the different battery or emitter changes due to supply issues.

It exists to fulfill military contracts for countries that don’t want to invest in buying a doodooload of 2062s or whatever niche battery outside the US when AA/AAA are very common world wide. Sweden (the homeland of Aimpoint) and Finland are replacing their Aimpoint CS’s with these Aimpoint M5’s. *Also my point being these optics are not only made just for the civilian world. And that goes for any manufacturer.

My beef with the M5 is that it's in a weird size category. The T2 and similar size are so small it's easy to focus past them and on the opposite end the 8t and Eotechs are fuckin huge but have windows to match so you don't really notice. The M5 is in this obnoxious middle ground where the body of the optic is just big enough that I find it distracting and harder to keep target focus and the window isn't large enough to prevent that.

Thats why I always preferred the compm4s with the lower battery. The high mounted battery always bugged the shit out of me being left handed bc its honestly distracting as shit.

Regular Guy Training, Are aimpoint worth it? I have my eye on a comp m4, shoukd I go with something cheaper like the sig?

I got the sig clone of the Comp m5 but it's the one to where the battery compartment is lower instead of sitting up high. It's been pretty good I got it with a Ruger PCC purchase off of a guy. Shake awake feature is nice to have
