Hi, Patrick: Obviously, I can't answer the last question (the principle or misconception of communication that was a new concept for you), as I don't know what you knew before the video. On "encodes?" Think back to the implication that "encodes" means that you consciously sent the message. It's at around 3:16 in this video. Plus you can watch the "Tweaking the Communication Model" video where the change is discussed. Good luck!

linear model- 1 way/ interactive- 2 ways with feedback non verbal (?) communication is unrepeatable

+Royal Blue: Yep, you're right again. And nonverbal response (or even non-response) is feedback. If you don't respond to something, someone will interpret your nonresponse as feedback (like when you don't respond to email messages; a nonresponse could be interpreted in a number of ways: you didn't get the message, you didn't think it was important enough to respond, the email message didn't go through, the email address was wrong, etc.).
