I appreciate how effectively you model what you are talking about!
I just came across your channel and have to say thank you. I really appreciate your advice. As a boss and a Dad, it gets easy to go in a not pleasant for all direction so your tips truly hit home. Thank you☀️
Attitudinal Barriers, Triggers / Filters, and Physical Distance are definitely the main opportunities that arise within my team dynamic. Demographic, not so much, however I have experienced that before in previous team dynamics. Thank you for helping me identify these.. now i can research each one individually to better navigate my interactions with my team.

Hi, Jena. Thanks for the input. Just knowing some basic barriers can really help. For example, the last three physical barriers--distance, noise, and hearing--come into play in my house. So, I have a informal rule that my wife, son, and I try not to speak to each other from room to room. It usually leads to misunderstanding and can even increase the tension. So, sometimes a simple solution like talking face-to-face in the same room (rather than calling out across the house) can solve a lot of would-be communication problems.In other words, you may be able to come up with some fairly simple solutions that will help you and your team communicate more effectively. Thanks again for your input.
Personally i have experienced information overload. Thanks for this Coach.
such a great video! Now, i know how to deal with communication problems,, ty so much !
Hi I'm from Morocco. We're studying Barriers of oral communication and they taught us four barriers : shyness, marginality, sel-esteem and anxiety. I really don't understand how could the self-esteem be a barrier cause I think it is a quality. thanks for the video , it helps too much.

Hello from New York State (the green part, not the big city). Sounds like the list they taught you is about public speaking. Usually, oral communication means public speaking. Maybe they mean the lack of self esteem makes people not want to speak publicly. Not sure. Just guessing about that they taught.

Thank you for the information
Hey thank you so much for sharing this information. Pff there are a lot of barriers that keep us from having a good conversation... Personally I think it'd be interesting to talk about these disorganized messages, you know, sometimes I know what to say but not how to say it, I mean, how to follow a clear structure that allows the other person to understand my point, and this could be in just expressing an opinion, telling a story or giving an argument. I hope you can talk about this topic in a future video. Thanks again and God bless you!

As I mentioned at the end of the video, this is a list that I personally came up with after reading and reflecting and personally experiencing these barriers over the course of 10 or 15 years. So I’m not citing specific research in this video because this is just a collection of things I have picked up along the way. Of course, you can find many of these specific concepts online and the definitions are out there. I didn’t invent any of these ideas. I just collected the list of nine together. But you can look any of these up in a regular old dictionary or online. These are not from a special source.
understand!
Hello thank you Alex so we should avoid these barriers right?
@alexanderlyon

Yes, as best you can, avoid them in a sense. In some cases, an awareness of these barriers will help you adjust your communication.

I don't know anything about that. Sorry.
I would feel like there's some mental disorganization that drives me to speak in a nervous way. It would frustrate me a lot. What could cause mental confusion even when you believe your listening well?
@alexanderlyon
4 жыл бұрын
It would be hard to tell what was causing mental confusion specifically but many people have other thoughts constantly "playing" in their head, like conversations from the past or a serious preoccupation with other thoughts. I'm not sure what causes it but you could notice when it's not there as much and see what conditions help you listen the best.

Hello, Thank you so much and I appreciate what you’re saying. But, Why the music in the background? For me, it is not peaceful as I am trying to listen to what you are speaking about. For me, the music is distracting and does not add value to the video.(it is just noise) May God richly Bless you as you seek Him first! Appreciate your insight and ability to be concise in what you are teaching!

Hi Alex thank you for this useful information. Another type of barrier I have is the disorganized messages which it comes from his / her inadequate knowledge of the sender about the topic he wants to transmit.
Information overload 😞
