Communicating Directly with Those In Spirit? Yes! It's Science!

What if we could meet up directly with our loved ones in spirit? Induced After Death Communication (IADC) is the technique that can make that happen. This week I’m talking with Stephen Berkley, whose remarkable film, “Living With Ghosts: Science Weighs In on the Healing Power of After Death Communication,” documents research into IADC conducted at the University of North Texas.
Register here for a SPECIAL SCREENING MAY 13TH TO 16TH of this award-winning documentary just for listeners of Messages of Hope:
www.livingwithghostsmovie.com...
In the documentary, a severely grief-stricken widow agrees to participate in an unconventional study where scientists facilitate sensory "reconnections" between survivor and deceased - the first publicly-funded research of its kind.
The results were remarkable. My conversation this week with Stephen Berkley, details a 7-year exploration of the nature of consciousness and the healing potential of after-death communication. It’s a superb film both promising and comforting. Love is eternal. Our people are not lost to us.
About Stephen Berkley, Writer/Director/Producer
Although Stephen has worked in film and media for over 30 years, “Living With Ghosts” is his first entirely self-produced feature film. The story idea came with the death of Stephen’s father when - shortly afterwards - his mother began reporting interactions with what she believed to be her deceased husband in a real-life Mrs. Muir situation. This naturally begged the question: Are these experiences a real phenomenon or are they merely symptomatic of profound grief? “Living With Ghosts” is the culmination of a seven-year investigation into the nature of love, death and what comes after, and it and features three survivors' quest for answers.

I’m a psychiatric social worker in an outpatient clinic. Whenever I have had a patient who has told me that they had a visitation from a loved one that is deceased either through a dream visual experience or a medium I tell them not to tell their psychiatrist because the first thing that’s going to happen is he is going to give a prescription for an antipsychotic. I have seen this happen over and over again. It’s unfortunate that they do not have the ability to think beyond their science and training. If there is another doctor Brian Weiss or another doctor Raymond Moody I have not encountered such people in 25 years working in mental health. When I am working with the bereaved the first thing I do is tell them to get to a medium that is well researched and evidential. This gives tremendous comfort in a one hour session , that a year or five years of my therapy could never accomplish.

thank you Laura C. for your observation and honesty around this matter. I've come to the same conclusion. One hr. session with a medium (or good past life regressionist in other emotional maladies) is much more healing then any amount of talk therapy.

I'm so sorry that this program is not going to be available after today. I love hearing these stories true stories about what people go through. Life after life. I knew about life after life from a young age, after the passing of my brother, died at age 21, and then one year later my mother passed of a broken heart. I was left to carry on. I was age 16 when my mother passed. And have been on my own ever since. And these programs have helped me tramendisly. So thank you

Oh, I'm so glad to have watched this interview! I had the opportunity to enjoy a screening of "Living with Ghosts" last October - and am so eager to see it progress to PBS and beyond - but I have pondered since then whether the film was re-enacted, whether actors were used... It confused me because the people were so genuine, yet how could the cameras have been there? This interview explains it all, and makes the film even more special than it already was. I'm gonna watch it again and donate again because I really want this film to be experienced by as many people as possible.

How interesting as I had EMDR and in the third session, I regressed to a prior life with my father but I was viewing myself through my father's eyes. He had no emotion, not love or hate or anger...nothing. Don't ask me why but I realized I had nothing to do with his abusing me in this life. It was him. I was greatly relieved. I do not remember what the therapist was asking me at the time that occurred.

I must admit I too think the choice of the word ghosts for the title is rather unfortunate, maybe even somewhat misleading. Ghost in my experience is a confused, earthbound spirit who, after the passing of the physical body, had difficulty crossing over. Although that does happen sometimes, some of us do have difficulty crossing, most of our loved ones do cross over. The communication spoken of in the film I understand is through the veil and not with ghosts roaming the earth. Why not calling them what they are - spirit. They are not ghosts. But… other than that, I’m really looking forward to watch the film. Thank you for this interview Suzanne.

I appreciate this interview more than words can describe. I'm just getting into counselling to address complex trauma 1 year after my husband tragically passed and have had many, many experiences from him immediately after and since (lights, smoke alarms, knock on walls, dreams, physical sensations, synchronicity), and am feeling worryingly reduced emphatic connection to the 'here' but understanding the vivid reality of the 'There' and not knowing how to broach the subject without appearing completely disconnected with 'this reality'. I understand the 'expectation' to Stay, but Go is often an urge. No words. Suck it up buttercup and move forward having been God Smacked? Zeitgeist or A♠

What an incredible podcast episode! So informative, so real, so important and carries the potential of helping thousands of people to solve grieving issues in a way it has not been done before. I am a firm believer that we should keep pushing the envelope on that which may help people heal - no matter what their ailments are. I support a study which measures the outcomes of new techniques to improve the quality of life of those who have been through the trauma of loss, the pain of grief, and the unproductive reality of a person’s social malfunction resulted by the death outcome of a loved one. This has the potential to become a great healing tool where standard tools for grieving and bereavement may not bring the same excellent result. Not everyone is cut to the same solutions or they experience the same obstacles and traumas with a similar result. If there are new and better options, even when the envelope is being pushed, I am a supporter. Suzanne shines on this episode and I wish Stephen all the success with his documentary for it is not only avant-garde in its content, but divine in its conceptualization to help others heal. Outstanding! 🙏

I would love to contact someone from the other side so I guess it would have to be someone unknown to me. I am mindful of Shakespeare's line: "All the world's a stage, and all the men and women merely players..." Perhaps family members get sick of their roles and opt out, but before they "shuffle off this mortal coil" - more Shakespeare! (Just sayin'). Am really enjoying this presentation and can't wait to see the film in May.

Grief counselor needs you to stay stuck in grief- they get PAID with every appointment! It a "keep you sick" system! Let's be honest about that!

Hi, there is a link in the description for this video. There is a tiny down pointing arrow to the right of the title of this video. Touch that arrow and the description will open to the right of the video. Then about a paragraph down you’ll see in blue, www.livingwithghostsmovie.com. Touch that and it will take you to the appropriate website to sign up. Hope this helps.

grief counseling needs a huge over haul, I thought you were supposed to be honest and open with your counselor. When I was they labeled me as having PTSD and sent me away.

Deuteronomy 18:10,11,12 do not practice fortune telling, use sorcery, interpret omens, or engage in witchcraft or cast spells or use mediums or psychics or call forth the spirits of the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord. Lord Jesus I pray you would release Suzanne from the demon sanaya who has deceived her. Amen

just want to say... I've been a grief counselor for decades and the first thing anyone does in counseling or therapy is be where the patient is or the client is. And I would not and I don't know anyone worth their stuff who would not join and encourage someone who felt comfort from a communication from someone who has passed. That said I've always had trouble finding someone I would refer to. But please don't put us all in the same bucket. If I believe in an afterlife and my client does not it's not my job to convince them and vice versa. I will welcome watching your film but I don't think you do us all Justice.

Ugh! You grill him about using the word " ghost" yet calling the neighbor "kookie" is acceptable?!?! The neighbor is doing what works for her!

Wanted to watch the movie but outside the US 15 dollars can be a lot! I wish one could choose, or if htere was an option where I could pay U$s 5 , they will get the money from many others like me and it would be a win win situation I hope they can consider this!

Extremely dissappointing that this film is not avaialable for viewing. Seriously? If it's a documentary on a topic like this it should be made avaialble for anyone who wants to view it. I understand that we live in a capitalist society and money is god and all....but seriously? and no shade on Suzanne. But Stephen Berkely, you've lost some credibility dude. Just make the film available for people. It's the right thing to do. Stop thinking about the $$$ dude. And don't pretend like that's not why the film is not available for folks. There are enough charlatans in the world. Do the right thing.
