QC's may be required to prosecute. Rumpole never prosecutes!

I wonder what he meant by old fashioned british common sense. I assume it means just not over thinking things, and basing stuff on day to day knowledge. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck....etc...

The standard of Reasonable Doubt requires that people "over think" things rather than just going with their first impulse. Have you ever seen Twelve Angry Men?
