Looking to own my 3rd MKZ, this time Hybrid. I’ve had tremendous luck with them. I switched to Lincoln from Infiniti in 2000 when LS came out, then Zephyr, followed by 2 MKZ. My last one ran 277K miles and I have 225K on my current 2016, with no major issues AT ALL. Love these cars!!! I wish new models kept the smooth touch control panel, but the exterior beauty makes up for it 👌

@@321verykind I did it 😝, but went with older body due to cost. I didn’t think the new grill (which looks awesome but doesn’t really match the back) and couple small upgrades was worth extra 8K. So far very happy. Takes getting used to the cvt transmission, but not a bad pick up 0 to 30. And the technology is pretty impressive. Thank you for the advise

I have a 2017 MKZ Reserve Hybrid with 212k mi and no problems... still runs like it did the day I bought it... the only thing I've had to change is a heat coolant sensor? $175.00 .... I'm good with maintenance and has always been garaged... I hope I can get another 100k.

@@NOTIMPRESSED2018 2015, drove almost 40K already, just broke 100K, zero issues, oil changes and that is it. I’m getting 43-44 mpg. When running AC full time it goes down to 40-41. I love everything about it besides power. Ride and handling is very similar to 2016 2.0 MKZ that I had, but it did take a while to get used to single gear transmission. Local shop reassures me the car is very low maintenance if I care for it. So far it’s turning out that way. Previous 2 MKZs I drove 277K and 230K miles before I sold them both in drivable condition. I’m expecting same with this but with half of the gas cost. 👌💪🏼

This is common to BMW, Mercedes and many other higher end luxury vehicles with heavy electrical demands. Ford factory batteries have a full 3yr replacement and cost no more than lesser aftermarket solutions. Plan on getting a new battery every 4yrs or so depending on your climate and usage. It’s just a part of regular maintenance.

@@iceman8361 with all these high end luxury vehicles having all these massive electronics involved these days, what it boils down to is these automakers can't make better alternators to keep batteries charged. They don't trust their own alternators. Or they just don't want to put in the money into making & developing better alternators. Instead they cut money spending by installing these garbage cars with "system shut offs to save battery". Shameful ripping of customers off imho.

When you think about it it's not actually electrical problems but an insufficient battery. That would be the fault of the owner, not a flaw in the car . That's like criticizing a car for its performance but using 87 octane, when the car requires 91 octane...lol. The logic of some people can be often absent.

Hey great video! I'm a mod for the mentioned facebook group! We love all people who join and do our best to help people as much as possible, thanks for the shout out! The 17+MY coolant issue has been the most prevalent in the 2.0's with the coolant passages being redesigned, but I will check on the 3.0 issue. The 2017MY has the most issues with the DRL, believed to be something with the ballast not dispersing heat well enough. Purge valve issue can happen to all of them, mostly due to "topping off" the tank, which clogs and eats at the carbon filter over time. If any of the models have "rough" or odd shifting, unplugging the battery for 30 minutes will reset the KAM (Keep Alive Memory), and allow the transmission to relearn your driving habits. Sync 3 updates occur every so often, which hopefully will fix the screen glitch issue. Lastly a little easter egg for the ecoboost models is a function called OAR (Octane Ratio Adjustment), which advances and retards spark predictively and reactively based on fueling used, so if you switch from 87 to 93, the difference won't be immediate. The best thing to do is a couple of "pulls" about 1/4 throttle, starting about 2k rpm in a higher gear, as thats when the engine is most likely to incur knock. Once it has set to its maximum (-.96), it will have its fully rated power. May take a day or two of driving, and the only way to tell is a datalogger or a program like Forscan. Feel free to ask any questions in our group!

Haven't had any significant problems yet with my 2018 MKZ 2.0T. Keyfob had some weird action going on where it wouldn't work at all when in my winter wool jacket pocket. That was odd. Have a 2017 3.0T AWD and just had to replace a "3 year" battery after 2 years. We got the warning "systems off to save battery" but the battery tested fine, and the car functioned fine otherwise. So decided to replace the battery as a precaution and no more warning. The only other issue we've experienced is a hard shift at low speeds (20 mph or less), like letting off the gas to coast through a parking lot. Not sure the cause, but we avoid this by keeping on the gas to maintain speed.

Thank you for your comment. It confirms that this horrible "systems off to save battery" feature was also put in the MKZ and not just the newer Lincoln Continentals. This "systems off to save battery" feature is the dumbest thing Ford Lincoln could have ever put in any vehicle. The market for most luxury cars dictates OLDR BUYERS mostly. Not every older person is going to want to have to start their car everyday or go out and have to drive a half hour EVERY DAY just to keep the cars BAD ALTERNATORS functioning because FORD was AFFRAID they put in so much electronics in these cars that they needed a VERY STUPID "systems off to save battery" feature. I have a 2005 Mercury with power windows, power doors, power seats, power sunroof, a GPS & radio/multi-CD player, and it functions properly without the need for any stupid "Battery Power Saver shit off" feature. JUST LAME Ford Lincoln did this. Keeps me from ever purchasing me a MKZ or Continental. And that is a shame because they are beautiful LOOKING cars otherwise. Isn't it already bad enough with most modern day cars that a person has to one day (10yrs usually) start worrying about the electronics in the emissions control systems in most modern cars to not have a "chip" or code go off or out to pass smog? Now they had to install a stupid "battery saver" because their alternators couldn't be more advanced to keep up? LAME.

As a prospective used car buyer in the market, I will also mention I'm a elderly gentleman of 59yrs old, I have given up on my interests in what was initially the newer 2017 up to 202o Lincoln Continentals. Had my mind set on the Reserve. Anyways after extensive due diligent research, I come to find out about the "Battery Saver Feature" function installed in all the newer Lincoln models. I called a local Lincoln dealership and asked a mechanic over the phone regarding this feature. He aid, "Yes ALL new Lincolns have the Battery Saver feature in them because of all the electronics in the cars these days." I said, "Even the MKZs?" and he replied "Yes, ALL Lincoln MKZs have the battery saver feature in them as well.". I then asked him what happens when this battery saver goes into effect? He said that after a day of no operation or starting of the car, the battery saver SHUTS DOWN ALL ELECTRONICS IN THE CARS. I then asked him what has to be done to resolve this issue & he replies, "Then you have to have the car jump started." I was like "WTH?" I then went on a short (but nice) rant saying, "Why would an older person want to have this feature if they might only want or need or use their car 2-3 times a week? They'd have to get a jump start after the second day of no use?" He then relied "Yes. The car has to be run for at least 20 to 30mins of driving a day to keep the electronics & alternator operating daily & so the alternator keeps the battery charged." So to my amazement I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANY LINCOLNS. I mean what the F is the point of marketing these cars to older people that might not use them all the time? I mean did Lincoln think they'd be selling this to younger generation? I went on to ask the guy, "Then why isn't this Battery Saver feature installed in the lesser Fords like the Ford Fusion & such?" He replied because they don't have all the modern luxury infotainment & electronics in them as much as the MKZ & Continental does so they don't require a battery saver." SMH at Lincoln makers stupidity. Pure stupidity. What happened to making luxury cars basic without all this electronic CRAP? Electronic push button drivetrain gear shifters and way too much extra garbage not needed to make a nice comfortable riding car. My old 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis didn't need any lame "battery saver shut down" to shut down all the electronics to save the batter for usage of the Power Seats, Power Windows, Power Sunroof, or GPS it has in it. WTF were they thinking adding this lame battery saver shut down feature in their newer luxury cars? Sorry they lost a customer and I'm getting me either a older Cadillac CTS or a Toyota Avalon that doesn't have this battery saver shit down feature in it. It's bad enough with the electronic emission codes & controls in cars these days just to try & pass a future smog. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out why these cars were discontinued. Ford Lincoln lost my business because they are plain DUMB. And It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out the market to these luxury cars. Older men & older ladies (mostly buyers of these cars) ain't going to be driving their cars every single day. Nor make sure they go out every single day to start the car up so it FUCTIONS PROPERY just because Ford Lincoln decided to add all theses extra features and couldn't figure out how to put in or make a good enough alternator to keep the battery in REGULAR operation. SMH at this SUPER STUPID automaker.

None of this is true! I own a 2020 MKZ and sometimes I go a week without driving it. I’ve never had a single issue with the battery and obviously, it starts up perfect, every time. So, unfortunately, your “due diligence” resulted in you receiving all kinds of bad information.

@@chrisjenkins203 Then maybe you got lucky with your MKZ but this feature is 100% TRUE. I called 2 Lincoln Dealership Mechanics regarding this "Battery Saver SHUT OFF" feature. Maybe it isn't as big of a problem with the MKZ, but it certainly is with the Continentals. But I suppose maybe 2 mechanics from 2 different dealerships were just lying to me? Anyways I'm glad you haven't had any issues with this but I'm not taking my chances because I have seen this battery saver feature mention as a major issues for newer Lincoln model owners in many forums also. Which is WHY I called the dealerships & talked to their mechanics which CONFIRMED this happens A LOT. Yeah, I've nixed the Continentals from my list of used car buys anyways and decided to go with a Genesis G90 which looks nicer to me than these Continentals, and the G90s 100% don't have any battery saver shut off feature in them whatsoever. Neither does the way reliable Toyota Avalons which is 2nd choice on my list of used cars. But the 2020 MKZ & the newer Lincolns are still very beautiful looking cars for sure. Enjoy yours I'm glad you've had no issues.

@@WrestlingErnestHemingway I certainly didn’t “get lucky” 🤪 I’ve owned about 5-6 Lincoln MKZ’s and Continental’s in the past 15+ years. Literally, everything you wrote about the battery is incorrect. Let me inform you so you will know what you’re talking about in the future. After the vehicle sits for 2+ weeks, w/o being started the car enters hibernation mode. All that means is the car is using less battery power so the car can sit for long periods of time and you won’t have an issue when you finally do start it. Hibernation mode was designed to prevent unnecessarily draining your cars battery, if it sits for weeks or even months w/o starting. As soon as you go to start your vehicle, after hibernation mode, the vehicle starts right up, just like normal. What you described is the exact opposite of what this mode does. It’s designed so you don’t have issues if the car remains somewhere and doesn’t run for weeks/months. This was designed for people like snowbirds and people that own multiple houses. You can leave your Lincoln in your garage in Florida and after it sits Their for 7-8 months and you fly down to Florida for the winter, the car fires right up and your battery is still strong. Just apply some common sense and what do you think makes more sense. That you would have to jump start a brand new Lincoln or obviously, Lincoln put thought and money into this feature so it’s owners would NOT be inconvenienced. Sorry but if you’re going to do research on a vehicle at least make sure you have your facts right. Otherwise, you are spreading horrible misinformation and could impact someone’s decision on buying a beautiful and extremely reliable luxury car. If you just stop and think about it for more than a few seconds, clearly, the way I’ve explained hibernation mode makes way more sense vs if a car sits fora day or two, it will need a jump start lol. Like they say…common sense ain’t so common. So, NO Ford/Lincoln is not just “plain DUMB” but I bet you can now figure out who the DUMB one is, right? Btw, you don’t have to be a “Brain surgeon” to realize what actually makes sense and what doesn’t. Do you think ANYONE would own a $50K car that needs a jump start, if it goes w/o being started for a couple days? 🤓

I was just given, yes given a Lincoln MKZ 2020, from my mother who decided she was to old to drive it, and we made a one day 24 hour drive from NJ back to Florida and car ( with only 4,000 miles on engine ) behaved wonderful all the way. Now I read from the guy you responded to that my car can't sit on driveway for more than 2 or 3 days - without a jumpstart, and I am thinking I am screwed, guilty as charged all ready, ....... but your long message to him which I know took a long time to do has me breathing easier again. Thank You for your input on the comment " he made. " I will carry my battery jumpstarter strapped to my back just in case ( for the next couple of weeks ), ..... but will it destroy the leather interior, I am sure WrestlingEarnestHemingway dude will give me the answer to this question as well. @@chrisjenkins203

@@321verykind yea 3 times. it had the engine replaced at 75k miles (replaced for free under the manufacturer's warty ) because water got in one of the cylinders, presumably because of bad gas since we've never cleaned the engine bay with water or driven thru more than a foot of water. back when my dad had the car he drove it a thousand miles once before replacing the fuel flood valve or whatever. it doesn't affect safety just gas mileage and it's a bit hard to start but only after a refuel. honestly, at 99k miles, i don't mind paying $200 every 2-3 years to replace the thing. all the mechanics and dealerships we've talked to say its a common issue on the 2016 Eco Boost. probably gonna get a different car after college anyway so i dont think its too big of a deal at this point in its life.

@@321verykind does the hybrids also come with the lame "systems off to save battery" feature? If so then to hell with Lincoln & their stupidity and lack to provide decent enough alternators they don't seem to trust. I'm not an everyday driver I'm an old guy that wants to use my car maybe once or twice a week at whim. I don't want to be forced to have to go out to start my vehicles every day just to keep the car from shutting down all the electronics. I WAS highly considering an MKZ or Continental especially until I found out about this "systems off to save battery" feature. I mean who should have to possibly even have to jump start any car if it sits after 2-4 days even? My old 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis has power windows, power seats, power moonroof, GPS & radio with multi-CD player and all the luxury feature without any need for some super stupid "systems off to save battery" feature. I can leave the acre sitting in my garage or in my driveway for longer than a week and the battery is fine. Ford Lincoln messed up big time with this one, and that tells me it's because they don't trust their own alternators & newer massive electronic systems. NO SALE for me.

It doesn’t matter if it’s been a few days or a couple weeks, the car starts right up and has had no issues. I can tell you how to do that. On your key fob, hold down the lock and unlock door buttons at the same time... In 5 seconds the driving lights will flash. This does two things. 1) - disables/enables the high horn honk on door locking 2) - disables/enables the security system for the car Some people like the horn honking when you lock the doors but there's more people that don't. But if you do disable the horn honk on door locking you also disabled the security system for the car. To ensure your security system is enabled you must push the door lock button on the key fob twice. Tapping the door handles will lock the doors but it doesn't enable the security system. To ensure your security system is on. Get in your car...any seat will do, push the door lock button twice on the key fob... Now open the door and watch the Lincoln engineer magic. There will be a dashboard warning about the alarm going off before it does.

Ford does a poor job building cars, but does a great job removing videos exposing them from online! Also expect your turbo replacements to cost an arm and a leg (in some cases you’d be better off parting out and getting a different car). These cars aren’t the greatest to work on either 😅.
