First off, I found your podcast watching Worlds replay and absolutely love the work you are doing! :) 1) I think Paris Dressel vs Chalmers vs Popovici is going to be the new race of the century. I predict (probs too early) swimmers will have to go at LEAST a 47 FLAT to be on the podium and probably taking out the WR (depending on where it stands in 2024). Dressel starts beautifully and Chalmers is also a back-ender so Popovici is not going to get it his own way easily 2) Summer McIntosh as of right now has the potential to stare down 3 juicy WRs (400free, 400IM, 200fly). The potential that someone can entertain that 200fly WR is absolutely insane! I wouldnt be surprised if she ends up holding all 3 of them throughout her career and maybe potentially all at once. (Given if she still continues to focus on these events

Flynn Southam from Australia is lurking. By 2024 he is someone to watch in the 100m

Agree with the Flynn Southam comment, we called him out on our Commonwealth Games recap videos as someone who wasn’t getting enough buzz for his swims in the relays

Not entirely sure that 200m Fly WR is ever going any time soon, it’s a little bit like the M 800m free, absurd levels thanks to the super suits

Lukas Martens is also exciting to watch and he keeps improving. He is 20 so maybe that’s why you didn’t include him in the next generation.

Agree he’s an exciting one to watch, didn’t quite hit the heights some expected at Worlds but has a bright future ahead of him! Our list definitely wasn’t comprehensive guide as there is so so many we could have added, glad you brought his name up!

With regards to New/Next Generation; I'm in overall agreement with your names. Am maybe somewhat less sold on Curzan at this point; clearly very versatile and talented but as yet; not really contender status in any RSA: Sates promises far more than he has delivered to date. Lara Van Niekerk on the other hand is worth watching. Worlds was slightly disappointing but excellent in Birmingham. AUS:- MOC goes without saying but Pallister has been overlooked. Her debut year as senior international, is now a World medallist at 1500; an 8.17 800 performer which is definite medal contender; 4.02 400fr which is the rung just behind podium. 1.56low 200fr/relay candidate. Southam has just swan 48.2 at Junior Pan Pacs; puts himself in the frame for 2nd spot behind Chalmers, with return of Cartwright to fitness and form; the AUS M4X100 starts to look somewhat less reliant on Chalmers playing super-hero USA: Thomas Heilmann has dropped a 51.98 100fly at Junior Pan Pacs (and 1.56 at 200); Aaron Shackell a 1.55 200fly. Another name to watch is Erin Gemmell who has put up a 1.56low 200free and 4.05 400free at the same meet.

Agree with these names, we weren’t aiming to be comprehensive as we’d still be going with the podcast now 😅 so much unreal talent coming through in our sport right now

16:00 Covid was a big reset for the younger age groups and helped them develop really well. The only thing is, it was really bad (at least in England) for the 2000, 2001 and 2002 age groups (18,19,20 in 2020) They were just over the threshold of being able to train with clubs, because they were over 18, coming out of the first lockdown. iirc there were a lot less of these age groups (19-22) at this years British champs and summers than there has been before especially outside uni groups. Covid has helped one generation develop to high junior, but then its almost ruined the generation that was transitioning to senior that weren't picked up by the NTCs at that point in time . That's my take on it at least
