Magic needs more players like Aims, asks questions politely when she doesn't understand things, gets excited when someone does a disgusting thing rather than salty, she even apologized for mistakenly not pointing out she had an arcane signet that could be removed. I'll gladly play the slower game to not have to put up with the salty over competitiveness of other players. Props to the others for helping teacher her too.

I agree, but my favourite is that Brian and Olivia always try to help newer players in their games and show them better available plays. I've seen so many people who just love destroying new players that this is super endearing and my favourite MTG channel!

So many people tend to get salty and overcompetitive over time... I have people I play with outside of my play group from time to time whose argument is literally "I play board wipes because I don't wanna give up" after 2-3 have already been played... Yes. So it's refreshing to see Aims.

@@careljoubert8184 It's the niceness curve, new players tend to be nice and excited when cool stuff happens then as people get competitive they turn sour and you get people rules lawyering and getting salty as they feel like they should be winning. And then on the far end of the spectrum you get guys like Kibler who can just be nice. They know how good they are and they're not afraid to laugh at their own mistakes. It's just the people who fall into that trench of awful in the middle who think they are far better than they are, blame others and get salty who ruin the mood.

I got a nice elfball commander deck for new players / play with new players - it got its "breaks" for a reason. People tend to relate to elves. Elves got okay-ish keywords and golgari provides good interactions at well. It is easy to teach and it's funny to play. But the main thingys for new players shouldt be: A) "Ask" - if you don't understand a thing B) "Mistakes are okay" / accept help C) "to lose is part of the game" - no need to be salty D) It shouldt be fun ride for the other three as well! ( Next level to get a blink of idea how in-depth the game can be is a 5-color chaos deck 😅)

Preach! Saltiness in Magic over someone just playing their deck and making their own assessments of the board is just highly unnecessary, it's a game and we're here to have fun, let people play and learn!

As a newbie to Magic and Commander, it was SUCH a joy to watch Aims play and see how friendly, encouraging, and educational the rest of the table was. I hope y'all get the chance to play with folks who are still learning more often - its entertaining in a different way then seeing four experts play, it sets a great example for other players who may have new players at their tables, and it demystifies the game even more for new players and they would hopefully feel encouraged to join a pod or go to a LGS for a Magic event.

For newer players there's a particularly neat moment. Olivia pauses Aims at 53:41 from playing after attacks are declared by Brian to play a fog. You should get in the habit of checking in order of priority. A player ahead of you might have an action that is a reply to a situation and save you a play. Look to and communicate with others to see if they have a response. I love the casual yet technical points in these videos.

1:29:48 Didn't see this in a quick browse of the comments, so: Olivia: "Two lands cards enter my graveyard from anywhere." Brian: "So she gets two more triggers." No, actually. The Gitrog Monster reads "one or more" so you only get one trigger per event that puts lands into the graveyard even if it puts multiples. As Underrealm Lich's ability is one event, it would only add one trigger. Essentially, you can never GAIN triggers with Underrealm Lich and Gitrog Monster, you can only break even if you bin a land from every single one. Easy mistake to make, though.

1:24:50 doesn’t Ashaya come in as a forest land ( thus triggering Scute Swarm )?

I love this channel! I've been a Kibler fanboy since the ye-olden days, and absolutely love the energy and vibe that Olivia brings to any table she sits at. Thanks for the great content! Friendly reminder, when you have Ashaya in play, having a nontoken creature ETB also counts as a land ETB. Pretty sure at least two Scute Swarm triggers were missed.

There was definitely one missed when Olivia played Lighthouse as a land entering near the end, when she was at 64 scutes. So she should have had at least 128 at that point. Not that it mattered really, as she had it in the bag. GG Olivia.

When Lich puts 2 lands in the graveyard it only triggers Gitrog once because his wording says "one or more" because they are dropping at the same time on the same trigger. Whereas for example squandered triggers each time technically because you sac one at a time
