    This is just a personal hypothesis, but I think the Tib War 3 EMP control center actually fires a microwave beam at a satellite reflector that redirects it on target. The right frequency of microwaves can create an EMP-like effect at a target area.

  • @Templarfreak

    @Templarfreak

    3 жыл бұрын

    im not so sure how well the energy fired by the control center would remain powerful enough going to the satellite, redirecting, then landing on the target location, but i suppose that is a possibility

  • @The_Viscount

    @@Templarfreak So, a microwave laser (maser) could hold the energy over significant distances. All you need is a powerful enough emitter and the right tuning. Also, space isn't that far away. Space begins at 50 miles up, and, once you leave Earth's atmosphere, there's nothing to scatter light. Additionally, depending on the frequency, air doesn't influence microwaves at all. While visible light will scatter through the atmosphere, microwaves and radio waves of specific frequency ranges can pass through without scattering. If one of these frequencies is used, then the only energy loss would be due to focusing issues in the beam and reflector. Given how we see how coherent the beam stays (i.e. doesn't change width too much), it's safe to say that the beam maintains a high degree of coherence and thus usable energy. Keep in mind, lasers and masters can potentially keep their energy focus over distances of hundreds of thousands of miles, so, 50 to even 100,000 miles shouldn't be an issue for a sufficiently advanced society like GDI. Edited with more details

    Yeah, I didn't realize the Steel Talons adaptive armor could do that until you and someone else mentioned it. Had to boot up the game and check it for myself just to make sure and your right. I don't think it's a huge deal not being in the video but since I did mention the Scrin shields absorbing an EMP blast it feels a little off to not have the adaptive armor included. So I just gave it a mention in the video description.

    For the Shockwave "Artillery", it's true that it's fired from a rocket launched from the SCU, but the rocket itself is actually a type of MIRV with EMP warheads... How the rocket releases those warheads make it sound like they're fired from off-screen artillery hence why I put "Artillery" in quotation marks...

    I love this vid! How long does the production for every video from brainstorming to research to recording and editing take you?

  • @Jethild

    @Jethild

    3 жыл бұрын

    It really depends on the topic of the video. Some topics are inherently more involved compared to others. For example, the Stealth Technology video had a lot of units and structures that made use of stealth. Where as compared to this video, there wasn't as much. So less research to do, gameplay to capture, shorter script so quicker audio recording and editing etc. I have a list of topics to cover within the Tiberium timeline. So I just pick the topic I feel like covering next, but normally I try to alternate between GDI focused topics and Nod focused ones. For this video, from start to finish, it probably took me about 2 and a half weeks. I certainly was not working on it the entire time. It's just an estimate based off the time I was able to spend on it. I'm not keeping exact track of my actual hours or anything like that. If I was working on the video full time (lets say a standard 40 hour week) then I could of probably gotten it done in half the time. Though there's also the fact that I've been working on a new Generals related lore video at the same time as this one. So splitting the amount of time I can spend between them was also a factor. For this specific video, I'd say the part that took the longest was researching the topic, plus writing and revising the script. Capturing gameplay footage I did in about a day's time. Same with recording and editing audio. Putting it all together in the video editor took about 3 days and that's not factoring in the time it takes just to render out the final video which can take awhile. The time it takes to edit and render can also depend on how cooperative said video editor wants to be, since some days it can run slow, crash a lot, etc. You know, the normal frustrating problems you sometimes experience with software. I'm also not working on a high spec computer. It gets the job done for the most part but it's not like it's specially built for editing and rendering videos.

  • @martinosborne4703

    @martinosborne4703

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@DarkOperationman the Scrin didn't use an energy shield to protect their tower, they used phase generators. They made the tower phase out of reality, which it couldn't do itself until it was complete. The Rocky Mountain complex most likely used reversed engineered firestorm walls. As mentioned previously, they were not used on the battlefield due to costs. They were weaker versions, as they needed the control nodes to be outside the barriers. Nod had their ion disruption towers, which would prevent an ion cannon strike.
