Comic Tag 2023

Ойын-сауық

I would like to apologize to Jim Lee. It was Rob Liefeld that was the crappy Image artist.

One Life is amazing, a sort of personnal retelling of how Gaiman discovered Michael Moorcock as a kid, and Elric of albino. Those early X Files one shots had amazing art by Jon Van Fleet. The regular series was decent, and was dran by the Waking Dead artist, IIRC. Jesus, until you showed that Kiss comic, I really thought I had nothing Kiss related in my home, what memory does... Still Love Demon and Hitman, such a fun series. But Demon was even crazier. Starman is great memories. Cyblade, Shi, Danger Girl? This is the equivalent of buying Lita Ford records, hahaha. Funny you said that about Jim Lee, since when he hired Travis CHarest on the regular Wild Cats, that was him showing how bad he was, by hiring a genius in the making.

I totally messed up the crappy artist question. I meant Rob Liefeld was the bad artist. I just reread One Life. It is good. I also read Kingdom Come. The art in that is good. I’ll have to give Shi a reading. Hopefully it is better than Lira Ford.

Of course, there should be a question about vampire biker chicks! LOL Love those cross over comics! hahaha poor Jim Lee, he got mistaken for Rob Liefield!!! BTW we need to do a live stream together like we talked about eons ago. Take care and talk at you later bud! ~NammaN~

I have over 4000 comics. I've tried to watch some channels about comics, but it's always about newer comics. I haven't bought a new comic since 2009. This was an interesting video. By the way Netflix did a show about Sandman. From what I read it does follow a well known storyline from the comics. I've never read any Sandman so I couldn't tell you how accurate it was. Lori Petty played Tank Girl in the movie. I forgot about Kiss Psycho Circus comic. I had a couple issues of that. Kingdom Come, love Alex Ross art. Jim Lee wasn't thought of as a good artist? What? You sure you're not thinking about Rob Liefeld? Honestly most of the guys that formed Image in the 90's had a very limited style. Same kind of poses for everybody, faces looked very similar to each other, muscles on top of muscles, and anatomy that just wasn't realistic. It sure was a good time for comics though, that is until the variant cover boom that almost killed the entire industry. Chromium, die-cut, prism, and loads of others. It seemed like every other issue had a special cover. The only good thing about them was they usually went up in price the next month and then you could sell them for a slight profit. They aren't worth much now though. Sorry I'm rambling. I was a huge collector in the late 80's and 90's. Cool video. I'll have to check out the original video.

That Batman cover can be read different ways today. I have the complete original series of Sandman, bought the first issue when it was brand new. Got Kingdom Come and I think Superman For All Seasons as well though I missed them at the time they came out. Same with Starman, that was quite acclaimed at the time and I completed the series after the fact, wonder whatever happened with that James Robinson guy, don't think he did much more in comics. Got Rob Liefeld to sign one of my comics once, yeah he wasn't technically a good artist but he had this kind of energy or flashiness to his drawing that was cool at the time. Never read Strangers In Paradise but heard good things about it. Can't remember if I have any Madman but the same guy did a Silver Surfer series for Marvel in the 2010's that was very good and had that same quirky kind of style, that was around the time I finally quit collecting comics for good but I did follow that series to its conclusion. I gotta start rereading some of these, cheers Rich
