We want comedy though. It says comedy relief. She didn't deliver what was promised. What's so funny about a 25 year old woman taking the pill?

oh, and I was the one who gave your comments the thumbs up!! Dont try to involve me in your world of serious and grave problems. YES theres a whole lot of things threatening life on earth!! Thats why I say we have to put these no-good entertainers in their place. Its easy to get laughs about race or creed, but its harder to let people get self-awareness that makes em chuck religion( and its religious leaders) and become spiritual.

  • @Qermaq

There's no explanation, really, why some comics get away with material others can't. Except to say, she has the personality and the persona to pull it off. She seems so sweet and demure that the arrogant, self-centered bit is outrageous when coming out of her. It works.

I don't always find Sara funny but I did like this bit. The whole point is that you can't take her too seriously. The sad thing is that there are people in this world who really DO represent that double standard in thinking. I think it's a funny social commentary as well as just funny in and of itself.

She is a comedienne, she is acting "in persona". She wears her comic personality like a professional clown wears a costume & makeup. This has been the basis for many stand up comics for perhaps the past century. Don't assume too much about the real person just from her act.

I'm part mexican and she called me when she was on crankyankers. I didn't realize that it was she who called me until the next day. She said she would call right back but it was late so I said no. Turns out that's why they didn't air the prank. It wouldn't have made a good skit, anyways, cause I was glad to have a phone call and I was cranking her back. I actually offended her when I started picking on her and mocker her. She's cool though. She was really sweet at the end of the call.

Read interviews with Sarah Silverman, and you'll realize that she is ACTING. Her stage character, an ignorant/racist person, is meant to highlight the exact things that you accuse her of holding as personal beliefs. She uses humor as a way to make people think about issues in society. Yes, she can be offensive and over-the-top, but it is completely intentional. I guess it's useless, since most people with a drastic opinion (especially on KZread) are unlikely to change their minds, but I tried.

@Kreimehn The entire idea of Comic Relief is to raise awareness of these issues while at the same time entertaining people. She just so happens to do it in an ironic way. Basically makes people think to themselves "that's not true", "oh that's horrible" etc. In a strange way it's noble. You just can't see passed the ignorant character she plays. If anything you have a problem with Comic Relief as an idea, and well, I can't help you there. It's a good cause.

Sarah and Dane have very different styles of comedy. For example, Sarah pushes boundaries and is actually funny. But seriously tho, as a fan of hers I enjoy how she fucks with what people hold sacred and we can't always tell if she is kidding or not. Dane, on the other hand, is more physical comedy and jokes about everyday things that everyone can relate to. Both styles have their fans.

The whole world takes itself far too seriously. The people complaining about this type of humour are exactually the type of people that are the problem.
