Comic Book Reviews Special: Peter Milligan (X-Statix, Enigma & more)

I talk funny/slow cause I'm German. Here's another special, this time the focus is on British comic writer Peter Milligan, one of the original Vertigo writers and one of the, imho, best and most overlooked comic authors of the past 30 years. I will talk about some of the highlights from his body of work. Please be aware, that some stuff I have read a looong time ago, but even with recent stuff, my memory is doesn't excel when it comes to story details. Have fun and feel free to add your own recommendations & suggestions in the comments section.

Hi Walt. Just wanted to say, you've earned a new subscriber and you always have such interesting new insights on books (you make me read those single issues again!). I really enjoy your monthly reviews!

Really enjoyed this video. I've not read a lot of Peter Milligan's work but I'll have to start with x static, it looks great

I love Milligan.. I wish they would put out Shade the Changing Man I have the first 3 paper backs but I want the whole series.. I've seen it for like 100 bucks on ebay but i like just having comics in paperback.

After they have started to dig out smaller series like Sandman Mystery Theatre and re-release them in new volumes AND with a new Shade (the changing girl!) series I have new hope. But one shouldn't expect more than thick paperbacks... (no HC, no Omnibi)

Good call on the tribute to one of my by far favorites! Milligan is a real gem- have you read Britannia from Valiant yet? I agree he does best trippy/ existentialist stories, being he's a bit of an oddball himself (put down the bottle Pete! Lmao watch any interview & you'll get it) 100% respect to a true underappreciated veteran Mr Peter Milligan

+Camilo Torres Good eye you have there! Actually, since I still haven't finished Morrison's run, Milligan's has to wait for a bit longer.

+Walt's Comic Channel I personally loved it, both Morrison and Milligan's run. Just went to a local store and buy the Enigma TPB

Oh yes, I read some of it back when it came out and really enjoyed it. Would be great to have everything collected into one thick edition.

Gregor Black Britannia was pretty good, the follow-up, too? Frankly, I found Most of his latest projects to be quite a letdown (The Discipline, Kid Lobotomy..)

I feel he's one of those few great writers left & maybe underappreciated. I liked them & find him a gem among modern writers, in a class with Ellis & Morrison, but that's just me. It's always interesting, the writers who like to work at each company tend to put out much differing styles dependant on which co puts it out.
