I had questioned the Bible stories until first grade and I saw our school system was ok with us saying “one nation, under God”. I was sold. Took me 20 more years to get out of that mindset. It’s indoctrination and it shows we do NOT have proper separation of church and state.

Yes I've been saying as a former Christian turned atheist myself I learned religion is the problem religion breeds hate and ignorance. Go to the most religious areas in America and look at the education system there and compare it to the education system in a big blue city. The kids in the city are smarter because the church in the rural community has had years of controlling the community and its political direction so the church has indoctrinated generations of people into believing an education is the problem but I know better now religion is the problem

You poor Summer child. My shock arrived earlier, 36 years ago, when I found out that children going to public schools did not automatically get free breakfast and lunch like in my country. And then it was the hatred against women. The image that I had of US women was one of confidence, freedom, liberality, and equality with men. Well, was I wrong. There is, and there was 36 years ago, some confidence, freedom, etc., but for the most part women were seen and treated as second class, good for only a couple of things. That's when it hit me: US society was profoundly conservative. Hatred of women as fully-realized human beings, hatred of the poor, and millions upon millions of temporarily-embarrassed millionaires voting against their best interest. And churches. Lots and lots of churches.

  • @cemerson12

@@Smithpolly For me cult is a set that might include all religions or possibly the other way around … generally for me the distinction is that cults usually have a more narrow focus around either the cult leader or the primary principle being (excessively) committed to. Religions generally more broadly describe a more complete way of life, but still need a set of dogma based on belief rather than empirical data. Subsets of adherents to science can become cultic without requiring any supernatural dogma.

I'm from Singapore, and while I didn't know it at the time, I had the pleasure of meeting kind, soft-spoken, most Christ-like Christians during my time there. I was part of a Christian organization in a Co-Curriculum Activity along with many other guys from other faiths or no faith at all. We were welcomed there. Because faith or no faith, we were all Singaporeans. Faith is never an issue when it comes to elections, nobody talks about it. It's always all about how we could make the country better. Now that I'm in the States, I just don't see that kind of Christian here. Here, faith is front and center. And there is so much self-importance, so much hate. That is why I distance myself from them.

His statement that he wants no Democrats is proof that this is not a church but rather a political organization, therefore ineligible for a church tax exempt status. Those aren't tithings but rather political contributions and therefore not a charitable deduction and any members using that deduction need to pay back the IRS with penalties and interest.

@@passenthrualaska3293 Maybe you missed the part where Jesus told his followers to spread across the planet and to tell every other religion that all of their gods are evil and must be cast down in favor of Jesus/Jesus's God. Furthermore, the stories of kindness aren't for people who want to be free from Christianity; they are stories for Jews on why Jews should pull in non-Jew persons into a Jewish faith. The "kindness" stories are excuses for Jesus to promote the inclusion of non-God's chosen into the fold of the chosen; accepting non-Jews into Jewish dogma. I mean, that's really quite obvious. Jesus does not actually preach peace and love. He preaches world domination and PROMISES love. These are not the same thing. And then there was the time that Paul completely disproved Jesus and Christianity....that's a fun one!
