The jokes were ridiculous but I think that’s what made it so much funnier 😂 I hope they keep him for the live shows he’ll definitely be getting my votes

I loved this. The first couple of jokes didn't land because he was delivering them so nervously. At that point, most people would allow that to break their confidence, but he pushed through, which takes guts! He pulled this confidence out of nowhere, the delivery got better, and people could relax and laugh. They were so-bad-that-they're-good jokes, which isn't everyone's cup of tea but the people who do like it would really appreciate this sort of set. And Simon was clearly one of them! This guy is really likeable and funny, so I hope he can start to feel more confident, as he will get better and better. I just really respect the moment where he chose to carry on and give it his all, rather than let it defeat him. What an amazing attitude, and it paid off!

I love how simon was basically the only one laughing i love him now well ive always loved simon but especially now he's much happier especially since he's had his son eric ❤

I was JUST about to comment that. i didnt know Simon had had a son, but I guessed that was the case since he seems a lot softer these days (also, now it makes sense why he enjoyed those dad jokes so much 😂)

He is exactly the type of person this show should be for : an ordinary, working man or woman with a dream - not the professional or semi-proffessional acts that have already been performing for years

Stand up comedy is the hardest, if your audience don't get the humour from the get-go, it can be a fast downwood spiral. This man deserved every applause. To carry on after such a tough start was courage that paid off. His jokes were more funny and clever than given credit for, i was laughing from the start l. I wish him all the best.

Darren definitely had a VERY rough start this time around, but he pushed forward despite it, and my was it a good thing that the did. The more he went on with his jokes, the more confidence he gained, and the better his deliveries and jokes became because the doubt wasn't there to make the deliveries awkward. If he can take this experience as a good one and a confidence boost going forward, I sincerely hope, and think, that he'll go places, even if in the end he doesn't win BGT.

BGT has the best judges in the world.

The trouble with puns is unless they are the main ones attributed to a certain comedian that he or she is known for, it's impossible to tell if a generic pun has been said before by somebody else in a slightly different way.

Love him! Though it was hard for an American to catch a lot of the really fast stuff on top of the accent. Could understand half his words but mostly just caught the punchlines!

Can someone explain the cat sanctuary joke to me? Was it an inside joke between him and Ant & Dec? If there was a pun, I didn’t get it. Loved the insomnia joke though.

I must Amit I was actually quite worried for him as at he start he was a bit shaky but towards the half way point I found it quite funny. He sort of reminds me of Tim Vine but what I feel he doesn't have compared to what Tim has is the delivery of his jokes so maybe if he makes the semis he could have that chance so he could grow his confidence more

Naturally funny guy, great energy. He was clearly a bit nervous but did well. He just needs to tighten up his cadence a bit, which tbf was probably affected by being nervous.

i've been watching and loving stand up comedy for 40 years and I though he was hilarious but i dont think people understood what he said for the first few jokes but as an American i got it so people from the UK should have been able to understand him.
