come with me to work a 15 hour shift as a pastry chef | work vlog
heyyyaaa
in this video I'll be taking you to work with me and showing you what a normal day looks like for me as a pastry chef, but with a twist, as for today I'll be filming myself working a double shift for mothers day. I hope you enjoy x
Also sorry for the confusion, it's 15 hours even though i said 16 hours, and this was filmed 3 not 2 months ago, my brain is just backwards sorry
With that being said, I have successfully completed my 12-month internship and go back to culinary school next October!! I can't wait to be filming culinary school vlogs again, i love you guys!!

Im really surprised guests order items that are not on the menu? Do they just request something they like personally or do they order something that was on your menu in the past? (Im surprised because I've never ordered something that wasn't on the menu or witnessed someone else doing that)
@marrssy
2 жыл бұрын
both, we've had some people order something from the menu from like 3 years back, and many times people order something like pasta w pesto or bolognese or something we dont make but the restaurant next to us does, so we would have to make the other restaurant make it, run out of the kitchen mid-service, get the food and serve it to the guests 😫

@@marrssy Wow that is amazing service you provide. Hopefully the guests you do that kind of stuff for really appreciate it and give you a nice tip. I know I definitely would if a restaurant would provide such excellent service!

A lot of customers are dickhead. They pay £20 for a food and think they are a king. They don’t understand the chef works a lot to design the menu to be perfect.
i love this video. i just finished my culinary internship a few days ago and i also can’t wait to go back to school in september! 🤎

No their aren't in a kitchen normally, some restaurants do staff lunches before service starts but normally most don't. And how do you take them like leaving your job means no one on your station
i use to work as a baker in the oil camps. Baking for 400 ppl a day was a tough but satisfying job.

Your 15 hour shifts haunts me. Like when do you sleep and how do you have a personal life?
@marrssy
Жыл бұрын
When i filmed this, it was pretty tiring but luckily I didn’t have long shifts constantly but it was still pretty hard especially working night shifts. I’m back to working part time now since I finished my internship and went back to school :) However, I definitely wouldn’t put myself through this again. Night shifts will be the death of me

Wtf.. why they keep you 15 hours in the kitchen..this is mad .. it's every day like this? ..or just to cover the day off from a coworker...?
Keeping making the ching $$$$ and sock it away is all I can really say with all that OT.
15 h shift sucks. No one deserves to work like that. 8h should be u shift. Leave that PLACE
@marrssy

I agree, they suck - but unfortunately it’s quite normalised in the catering industry. I got another job that doesn’t require me to work such long shifts.
