I really liked the vlog format of this video. It's the best of both your main and second channels. Madelaine Petsch's performance was definitely the highlight of the film and it made up for the lack of originality in this first installment. She was so convincing as Maya and you could tell she gave it her all. In fact, I watched a few interviews with the cast and crew and they mentioned that Madelaine got involved in many aspects of the production and her contributions earned her a Producer credit. I thought that was cool. You and Dalton are definitely in the majority on this one and I can totally understand your disappointment having lived with the first Strangers film for over 15 years. I had a decent time seeing this on the big screen. I'm giving the filmmakers some latitude with the world building and character development in the hopes that there's a payoff by the end of the trilogy. The movie business is so challenging these days that I'm grateful when studios and production companies take chances on their projects (in this case making a trilogy up front). The creative inside me is rooting for them to succeed. 🙏 Hopefully the remaining chapters don't end up going straight to streaming. I'm really curious to see where they take the story. Is someone from the diner involved? Why were there masks in the closet? Who's Tamara!? I'm so glad you mentioned how dismissive Scott Speedman's character was in the first movie. That was so frustrating! They did a much better job justifying Ryan's skepticism in this one. But I agree with you that the tone was much darker in the original and the sense of dread it left you with made for a much scarier and more interesting movie. I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts about Chapter 2 (thankfully we don't have to wait too long).

Thank you so much! And yeah I'm interested too where they take the story from here. I am a little more hopeful for the next two chapters because, as far as I know, those aren't necessarily "remakes" of anything and might benefit from just being original films. And like you said, thankfully we don't have to wait too long for the next entries... just hope they don't feel too rushed!
