I love the suede jacket! Before resorting to get it professionally cleaned you could try closing it in a air tight container with scented cat litter for a couple of days... it should help! 🤞

I feel like it's going to be a not so jolly Christmas this year simply because Alexa didn't buy that Christmas shirt with a dinosaur wearing a Santa hat and shooting laser beams (or it might have been fire) out of its mouth, but maybe that's just me.

Hi Alexa, this is my childhood thriftstore, so glad you guys were able to find awesome pieces. The way they do the sale/discounts is based on the tag color as well as the day, I believe the sign said Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the tag colors were above it, just a heads up if you ever thrift at this store again ☺️

You can typically wash suede in the wash on cold and hang to dry! I’ve done it before on a suede jacket and it turned out great!

Great lil thrift venture. That skirt was an amazing score, as was the brown suede jacket! To remove the smell; put baking soda in a couple coffee filters, tie them closed, then put them in a bag with the smelly item(s), close the bag up, and give it a few days to a week.

I would love to see a series wear you and Carrie thrift / review thrift stores you’ve never been outside your area. Like when the two of you visited your friend in London. It made me want to travel to thrift. Would love to see you review peach tree revival in Miami. I’m obsessed with their insta and the two lovely young ladies who own it.

I wash suede jackets and they come out looking great!! Delicate wash cold water in my washing machine and hang and shape to dry…will be stiff at first but will soften up with use.

I have purchased a lot of things that have a little bit of a smell to them. By mistake it can smell like an attic it was kept in, mold if it was kept in the basement or incense or cigarettes smoke. Absolutely try to have it dry cleaned. It is expensive to dry cleaned. I do keep a drawer with lavender sheet liners in it and lavender packets real lavender and I keep it in my lavender drawer until the smell goes away. You can also use frebrees no scent. Spraying on the inside. And hanging outside. I hope this helps. It’s hard to know if something smells when you’re in the store the secondhand stores. Because you go nose blind.

You could try putting the suede jacket in a plastic bag in the freezer for a week...kills germs. Or if the smell is in the lining (armpits) you could try spraying with vodka. Love the skirt!

Vinegar + water is a good way to get weird smells out of clothes (that is presuming you can wash it in water - I know some things have those tags that say "dry clean only" but my mother would ignore those + wash it in water anyway - never noticed anything). But soak the thinf in vinegar water. Get a bucket. Pour vinegar in - maybe 1/4 cup. Add water (i usually use warm or hot water - but only use cold water for wool!). Add the thing. Soak for a few hours. It also gets rid of nasty perfume smells too! And if one has a corn allergy + cannot use white vinegar you can use apple cider vinegar - it works just as well!! But be CAREFUL as the dye may bleed into the water! So only soak similar colors together! I also usually add a bit of Dr Bronner's Peppermint Castille Soap to the bucket. Hope this helps!

This is niche, but y'all would lose your minds at Village Discount in Chicago! I think thrifting is maybe less competitive here any you can just find so many gems for so cheap. I definitely take it for granted. Maybe this is your sign - Alexa and Carrie to take a thrift trip to Chicago!

You can get rid of the smell with baking soda. Sprinkle it all over the jacket (inside and out) and then put the jacket in a plastic bag that you tie shut. Leave overnight or 24 hours. Take out the jacket (preferably outside, so you don't get baking soda all over your apartment) and shake off the excess baking soda. A roller could also be helpful. If it still smells, repeat the process again. Tada!

Try spraying cheap vodka on the suede jacket that may lift the smell! of course spot test on the fabric to see if it will leave stains:) for me, I have had bad luck with dry cleaning not getting rid of odors on thrifted clothes

I never comment but just wanted to say I've been absolutely loving your videos this autumn - they make me want to go thrifting so badly (even if I have to take my screaming toddler with me)!! Also, quick question: do you wash jackets etc. after you buy them? This is the one thing that puts me off buying wool/suede jackets at thrifts - I'm usually too scared to even hand wash them in case I ruin them!

Love your suede jacket! Spritz the insides with vodka. Hang in sun and wind. A lot. Mist inside and outside with Febreeze. Put it in a garbage bag with crumbled up newspapers. Duct tape garbage air tight closed. Let sit for a few days. I believe putting jacket in freezer will also remove smell. You can do it, it just takes patience. 🥰

Hi Alexa, love your thrifting videos!! I loved that plaid skirt so much that I found one on eBay and bought it!! You are so lucky you have awesome thrift stores in your area. The thrift stores in my area (eastern Pennsylvania) aren't very good and they don't have a lot of nice things. It's a bummer for sure!!
