Hi Jon. This is a fantastic idea I’ve been trying this for quit some time. I’ve flown with many interesting people. Just last week a local taxi company asked if I would participate in flying people for a local charity. I immediately contacted my local club there were quit a few pilots offered there services. Let’s all give this a push to encourage people into the wonderful enjoyment of flight. Steve

I was all set to start my PPL, and then COVID hit and threw a wrench in those plans. I would love to get that spark back and fly again before I sign up for lessons. Thank you for offering this, I'll keep an eye on that newsletter!

Great idea, Jon. I often fly solo in a four seat aircraft, it’s a waste really! I’m sure you’ll get tons of interested folks.

Great idea Jon. I’m really close to taking the plunge but there always seems to be something else that my money needs directing to. Would love to take you up on that opportunity sometime if you’d allow me. Will sign up to your newsletter.

What a super idea Jon. Love watching your videos and have heard you flying around from my big orange aeroplane! Really appreciate the effort to encourage new pilots to join us in this wonderful adventure. Many are and will benefit more from taking that seat, but let me know if you ever want a copilot for a jaunt in IV!

Takes me back! I used to fly helis from Redhill Hanger 1 just to the right of the 18 threshold. I always used to enjoy flying with other people and I hope your idea works out.

Nice idea, hope it works out, the first hurdle for many would be pilots. Fixed wing microlights can be one, more cost effective, route in, hopefully training should soon be seamless too, Eg towards GA and above types/ratings (especially if learning on 600kg 'light sports' types now). Speaking of diversity, dont forget; the wounded, injured, sick and disabled (as appropriate, as severally disabled would need special adaptions, however a lot of disabilities are hidden and thus ignored or forgotten), also perhaps those who are nuero-diverse too. Many of those categories could be on low incomes too. My father had his boss to thank for learning to fly, paid for 75% of his training, so he and his friends were always keen to take others up, thus not forgetting their roots.

And in the last year I’ve worked with groups representing those people too. I have a film in the can about a charity supporting injured ex service people, raised £8500 for the Aerobility charity dedicating multiple episodes to them and made a 20 minute episode about neurodiversity in aviation. These spare seat flights may not be suitable for some people in these groups. But these people are not forgotten.

Since you only opened your KZread profile today, and then immediately commented on this video, I find it hard to believe you were ever subscribed under this username in the first place. I suspect you have simply set up a youtube profile to troll me, or have used a fake profile to hide your real identity - I wonder why? What is it about being welcoming to BME & LGBT people, people on low incomes or women that you find so offensive? Are you racist, homophobic, hate the poor, are a misogynist, or do all of the above apply to you?
