I was surprised at first that you did not understand what was shown in the film, nor did you understand the beginning of the film - they were looking for weapons so they could join the Partisans, because the Partisans only accepted into their ranks those who already had their own weapons - your opinion was to collect war material for trade. But then I accepted that you are actually Egyptians and therefore nothing is strange... The situation in the house, when the boy's mother cries and scolds her son, shows the mother's resistance to her son going to the Partisans, since he found a rifle that allows him to join the Partisans. The mother tells her son that now, when their father died in the war, he is the oldest man in the house and that he should take care of his sisters and family, as the oldest man in the house. And if he doesn't think he's taking care of his family and his sisters, he should kill them immediately with an ax because without a man in the house, in times of war, a better fate does not await them. There, the boy's frivolity is shown again, as in the beginning of the film, because he is basically still a child. The Germans who enter their house are ghosts of masked Partisans, because they have come to get those armed villagers who want to join them in the fight. Partisans were disguised as German soldiers for the reason that if real Germans return to the village, someone could tell them who joined the Partisans. This is how the entire village "saw" that certain men were missing from the village because they were taken prisoner by the "Germans". The scene where the German soldier drinks milk and jokes with the girls, the twin shows Partizan, Belorussian - a "real German" would kill all the householders because of finding a rifle in the house...

This movie is based on a truth. Nazi's burned hundreds villages in USSR and usually killed most of the civilians. 27 million soviet people(about 8 millions were soldiers, and 19 millions were civilians) were killed, murdered by Nazi's(not only germans, there were romanian, italian,, finnish and many soldiers from other nations that in Nazi's army) and those that collaborated with them. It was the genocide of Soviet people, because Nazi's declared that soviets are not humans. And because of that they did horrible and terrific things to our people. Hitler wanted to leave only about 30 millions(of about 230-240 million) of Soviet people alive and make them work for food. But USSR won that war, and Soviet people won their right to live.

Finnish and Italian soldiers and Wehrmacht in general did not participate in such atrocities on the territory of the Soviet Union, there were special brigades that did such terrible things, they consisted of Germans.

@@KatyaLishch Well finnish soldiers were participated in the siege of Leningrad(now it's Saint Petersburg). In that siege(that lasted more than 2 years) died from starvation about a million civilians. All roads were under fire by germans and finnish, so trucks with food couldn't come to the city.

I remember the first time I watched this movie as soon as it came out, I was 13 years old.I have never seen a scarier film about the war.Everyone is talking about the genocide of the Jewish people, no one is talking about the genocide of the Soviet people.Of the approximately 27 million Soviet people who died in World War II, only about 8 million were military.All other civilians.

Я помню, как разговаривала про ВВ2 с одним немцем с русскими корнями, горячо любящим и жалеющим евреев. Так вот, когда речь зашла о жертвах Советского народа, меня поразила его отстраненность и равнодушие. Более того, даже цинизм. И я все не могла понять, почему жизни одних людей он ценит больше, чем жизни других.. а потом он аргументировал: да какая разница, сколько вас там погибло! Вас бы все равно Сталин всех перебил: кого в Сибирь, кого на расстрел. Ну, как бы… «европейский» взгляд на ситуацию 😒 Но с этим немцем я больше не общаюсь.

Я бы этому немцу так ответил: "Какая тогда тебе разница сколько немцев погибло при уничтожении Дрездена, сколько немцев утопил Маринеско, сколько немцев гражданских было убило в результате боевых действий на территории Германии, сколько погибло военных немцев за 1945 г., сколько в Гитлерюгенте и Фолькстурме (указанные данные до сих пор Германия не озвучивает), за сколько шоколадок, за одну или две немка отдавалась толпе американских нигеров, поэтому современные немцы тёмные, сколько немцы потеряли территорий. Да какая разница вас сколько там погибло, и сколько немцы потеряли! Вас бы все равно Гитлер всех перебил: кого в концлагере, кого на расстрел, кого на гильотина (как Софи Шоль, к примеру), кого на фронт.

В юности,в 1987 году была в Белоруссии,с группой ездили в ХАТЫНЬ,там ,как говорила моя бабушка "ЗЕМЛЯ ПЛАЧЕТ"Через столько лет до сих пор осталось очень сильное впечатление.Больно от того что люди ничего не знают об этом и НЕ ХОТЯТ ЗНАТЬ.

Это было, это правда. В Белоруссии сжигали целые деревни вместе с жителями. Я думаю в фильме ещё более "гуманные" сцены показаны. В жизни всё было гораздо страшнее, 27 миллионов советских граждан погибли. Зато теперь Советский Союз обвиняют в развязывании 2 мировой войны. Позор всем, кто переписывает историю.

если внимательно глянешь историю, то заметишь что советский союз бы сам напал на германию. не в 41, а через пару лет. и ты если бы был во главе советского союза и у тебя есть мозги то тоже бы отдал приказ напасть на германию. т.к. иначе германия бы захватила весь мир вокруг советского союза и у нас не было бы не единого шанса против германии которая имеет ресурсы всего мира.

Like, of course. This is not a war movie, but an anti-war movie. Streaming is one thing, but these films are better watched in private. And then, those who can will literally physically feel disgust at the actions of the Germans. In the literal sense of the word, your stomach is filled with lead. The apotheosis of anti-war cinema, its pinnacle.

I was almost 40 when I first watched this movie ( I couldn't gather myself earlier), and I still had my hair standing up through the entire movie... you can watch many movies with a happy end, knowing how the war ended, but you can never feel the horror of living through it

Посмотрите корейские и китайские фильмы о зверствах японцев. Тоже волосы дыбом. Но понять их боль до конца могут только они сами. Корейцы снесли все дома, построенные японцами, в их стране во время оккупации,чтобы ничто не напоминало о японцах.

геноцид советского народа не принято осуждать и обсуждать в отличии от холокоста о котором на каждом углу кричат. хотя людей убито намного больше чем при холокосте. как и геноцид китайского народа у них почти столько же убили 30 миллионов человек. при сжигании белорусских деревень особо отличались украинские дивизии СС. деревню Хатынь прототип деревни в фильме сожгли украинские каратели. но об этом при советском союзе не принято было говорить потому что украинцы тогда считались братьями славянами.

Ну и "союзники" Польши не объявили войну СССР. Кстати, напомни кто там Чехословакию делил с Гитлером??? Кто не дал коридор войскам СССР для защиты Чехословакии??? It was, it's true. In Belarus, whole villages were burned together with the inhabitants. I think even more "humane" scenes are shown in the film. In life, everything was much scarier, 27 million Soviet citizens died. But now the Soviet Union is accused of unleashing World War 2. Shame on everyone who rewrites history.

For me, the most terrible film of the action was the documentary "Ordinary Fascism". People should understand how tolerance for violence against anyone is born: race, nation, cultural stratum. First, they will tell you why someone is lower, worse than you, make generalizations, and then call for "fair" punishment. This is what is happening all over the world right now. Only a lazy, depraved person of the traditional West is lazy to look not in the mirror, but behind it's back.

My country is in the West but we've never hurt anyone. In fact we've suffered a lot under the Europeans. Please be more specific. North Korea is in "the East", let's not forget the what the Russians did to the Ukrainians or Japanese to the Chinese or the Cambodian genocide or the young Turks ect ect. To be honest I don't count Germany as the west, it was "The West" that fought the Germans. Language is important.

And don't compare what the Japanese did to the Chinese population with how Russia is trying to end the war in Ukraine, which has been killing its citizens since 2014 because they didn't want to forcibly turn from Russians into Ukrainians. The United States and Europe, instead of stopping the Nazi massacre in Ukraine, are sending them weapons and manipulating the news. this shows how brutal the great patriotic war was. It wasnt a war of religion or ideology, it was a war of extermination. The belarussian soviet republic lost 25% of its population

Подавляющее большинство не поймет, потому как это достаточно далеко от них и их не коснулось от слова ни как. Для них это будет очередное зрелище... пусть и не приятное, но пало чем отличающееся от сказочек марвел.

That film also about Nazi helpers AUN-UPA (Stephan Bandera followers), who kills many civilians in Volyn and Ukranian and Belarussian villages in most sadistic ways. Even German was shocked. Also AUN UPA ,Third Reich and Bandera are heroized in modern Ukraine.

В Белоруссии погиб каждый четвертый мирный житель.В какой стране народ выдержал бы все эти страдания, которые выпали на долю советских людей по всей стране: на фронте, в тылу, на оккупированных территориях?Вся Европа сдалась Гитлеру.

This is one of those movies everyone should see once. They used real explosives for the bombing and artillery scenes, not compressed air shots like Hollywood. They really shot the cow, the machine gun scene with the tracers over head is live ammo over the actors heads with real tracers and the sounds are the actual bullets wizzing over head.(Only inaccuracy is German tracers we’re green while allied were mainly red) The ending in the village that’s not a prop flamethrower that an actual real flamethrower shooting napalm. While this was most certainly a soviet propaganda film these things did actually happen. In the west we focus so much on Western Europe during WW2 but in the east it was 1000 times worse.

Было много достойных украинских коммунистов и воинов, положивших свои жизни на защиту завоеваний социалистической революции. Не обижайся, но ставить в вину целой нации преступления некоторых её представителей просто напросто глупо и не соответствует реальности.

Нацизм - это такая штука, которая может охватить абсолютно все нации и народы (возможно даже одновременно, когда раскаляется империалистическая война). Потом один нацист тыкает в другого нациста, крича во всё горло: "нацист!", а другой делает то же самое. Было бы смешно, если бы не было так грустно. Интересный факт, один из красноармейцев, которые вознесли красное знамя над рейхстагом был украинец. Но, это так, к слову. Также была украинская коммунистическая партия (которую сейчас запретили их ультраправые силы после Майдана, но я уверен она есть и сейчас только в подполье). Нация не однородна по своим убеждениям. Иной раз смотришь на Украину и в каких-то местах видишь и Россию. Вон, у нас тоже любят поставить какую-нибудь памятную табличку Маннергейму или памятник Краснову и "героям" белого движения. Мы все поражены одной болезнью (в большей или меньшей степени) - это капитализм и все вытекающие из него вещи.

Солидарен, также как и не понять например потери Китая (более 34 миллионов убитых и раненых). С другой стороны можно понять не полную эмоциональную вовлеченность , многие иностранцы рассматривают такого типа фильмы в первую очередь как художественное произведение, не имея у себя на фоне такой влияющий исторический контекст. В итоге просто напросто можно поблагодарить их за интерес к советскому кинематографу.

Китай пострадал еще страшнее. Что там творили японцы. А прямо сейчас арабские дети, такие же как в этом фильме, лишены права на счастливую долгую жизнь. А лишил их этого те самые люди, которых 80 лет назад самих вот так же истребляли. Мне плохо когда я просто думаю об этом. Всем мира и добра.

Как можно жевать и смотреть фильм? Мы принимаем все происходящее близко к сердцу, наши ближайшие делушки и бабушки это пережили и мы не захтрахованы от ужасов войны. У меня бы все в горле застряло.

мы были в 5 классе школы, когда нас привели в кинотеатр на просмотр этого фильма... мне было 12 лет. в то время, каждый школьник знал историю ВОВ, были живы ветераны. многие дети, будучи уже взрослыми так и не смогли посмотреть этот фильм второй раз.

I think, the unit depicted here, as from the hints about location and time, were likely the Dirlewanger Brigade, an infamous german punitive unit. Look that name up, it´s nightmare stuff, but not the only example. And yes, german units did participate on large scale, not only SS but also regular army and police units. Ukranian and romanian, lithuanian, bulgarian, italian, danish, chech, dutch, and other volunteer units did also participate. Some people volunteered for the germans from basically all the occupied territories. There were even russian volunteer units fighting for the Wehrmacht. But the main perpetrators were german units. By far. As for ukranian partisans and volunteers, there were several units, some at odds with each other. The galician division did exist, other groups fought both soviets and germans, and millions fought and died for the Red Army. Also, the germans pretty much devastated what was left of Ukraine, and had no intention of leaving it as a stable country, it was supposed to become a food production camp run by slave labour. That even some ukranian officials choose to gloss over the atrocities comitted by ukranian units and their problematic allegiances, just because they also fought against the Soviets, is disturbing, especially for me as a german. Not many germans are proud of what germans did in the 40´s. What Hitler and his cronies started was basically hell on earth for twelve years flat.

Советский Союз победил фашизм , наши солдаты дошли до Берлина, укрепили флаг и выключили газовые печи в конц лагерях, и после этого еще выиграли яронскую войну, но сейчас запад старается всю память об этом уничтожить

Много много лет назад я смотрела этот фильм ,, Иди и смотри,, До сих пор не могу отойти от впечатлений ! А после просмотра месяц не могла прийти в себя ! Сейчас по прошествии стольких лет , ни за что не пошла бы смотреть .... это невыносимо !

Я две недели в себя приходила. Самый правдивый и страшный фильм о войне.

I have never seen Come and See and I have no plans to anyway. When I first heard about it when it became a meme in 2020 and based upon the reactions of people watching this I tried to check a short extract of this movie to see what's the fuss about, it literally terrified me that I had to click off immediately after 1 minute. Heck, not even the subtitles at the bottom you occasionally distract yourself to read could protect me from this shit, this is absolutely scary like hell that no matter what you do, it will scare you for life even if you just watch a short snippet of it. I may have been brave to watch the whole Saving Private Ryan and Der Untergang, but this movie is something I will never ever watch in it's entirety due to how horrifying and creepy this is most especially with the close ups on their faces, and the unique usage of surreal David Lynch cinematography.

Я тоже смотрела этот фильм в средней школе. Потом снились кошмары. Эти фильмы часто снимали люди, которые видели войну реальную. Поэтому все они такие пронзительные и страшные. Как и было на самом деле.

This movie made from book of memories ppl... It was reality in 40s.. My grandpa was partisan, lost his eye.. I seen this movie few times, i read original book... I still cant keep tears and anger... Always thinking, when looking on my reality, how strong soviet ppl and country was that not destroyed germany totally... I hate nazis, racists, fascists - kids of capitalism... Fuck em all...

Hello friend, as one who was born in the USSR I wanted to thank you for choosing this movie for reaction, this part of ww2 is least known in the west, I suggest you see or read about the "Eastern front" to get the full understanding behind this movie because it goes way deeper that you can think. Amazing camera work indeed and the sound in this movie just makes you shiver down your spine.

This, along with the information documentary on KZread, called "The Fallen of WW2" is an eye opening view of the war.

This movie caused me sleepless nights. No movie ever hit me as hard as this one. But I am glad I watched it. As a german, we have history lessons, alright, but no school lesson ever dares to be as intensely repulsive and ugly and intense as the reality really was. I think every one of us should see it to wrap our heads around what actually happened. Because this is pretty much what really went down.

Это сташный фильм. По жанру я бы отнесла его к артхаусу. Действие происходит в СССР во врамя ВОВ, на территории республики Беларусия (сейчас Беларусь-страна). Военные в лесу это партизанский отряд, состоящий из жителей окрестных деревень. Они воевали скрытно и устраивпли диверсии в тылу врага. Это не регулярная армия. Парень откопал винтовку и патроны для того чтобы его приняли в отряд партизан. Далее показаны события имевшие реальную основу и метаморфозы происходящии с главным героем по мере ужасов войны им увиденных. Каждый 3 житель Беларуси был убит! Сотни деревень были сожжены, часто вместе с жителями. Из почти 900 и более деревень восстановлены меньше половины. Самый известный мемориал таким деревням это Хатынь. Так же есть книга о Хатыни и книга Дальва-сестра Хатыни, с рассказами спасшихся жителей и фотографиями.

Слава советским людям, выстоявшим в этой жестокости. Смерть фашистским мразям.

Эти люди точно понимают смысл того что смотрят? Если да - то их реакция ОЧЕНЬ странна. Для меня лично это самый жуткий фильм из всех, которые довелось посмотреть за всю свою не самую короткую жизнь...

Был в Бресте по работе. Осталось время и пошел на экскурсию по Брестской крепости. В том числе в подвалы, где сжигали людей заживо. Там до сих пор стойкий запах горелого мяса. Я мужик крепкий и порядком дерьма в жизни увидел, но стало очень не по себе.

since this film contains a lot of real documents about the atrocities of the 3rd Reich - for complete authenticity, a set of non-professional actors, former front-line soldiers and local residents who survived these atrocities during the war years was conducted for the filming of the film. Also, for reliability, pyrotechnics were abandoned when shooting the film and live projectiles and live tracer cartridges were used. so accidentally a bullet hit a cow, which falling almost crushed the main character of the film.there were also people in the burning shed, and until the flames engulfed the entire structure, an exit was provided made in the back wall of the shed. due to the brutality of the war, some scenes were cut and the script was rewritten. so the output turned out to be an easier movie to watch

This movie was hard to create. Many people in movie - usual citizens I mean - still renembered real war. But director can bring to us all violence and dirt of war.

Thanks for the reaction. There's also a good Soviet documentary "triumph over violence" With English subtitles.

This is one of my favorite films, even if it is tough to watch. But from what I can gather: the writer and director were survivors of the war, the writer actually being a resistance fighter. The Germans in this are clearly stand ins for the Direwanger Brigade who were so extreme, even members of the SS thought they were extreme. Their ranks composed of the criminally insane and their leader (the namesake) actually went to prison for sex crimes against minors.

If you forgotten those crimes you have no future...

The fascists killed more than 27 million Soviet people, among them were 3 million Soviet Jews. It was called the Holocaust. AMONG 27 MILLION (9 million soldiers, the rest are civilians of different nationalities of the Soviet Union)- that is, over 15 million non-Jews were killed by the fascists)... Why do they only talk about the genocide of Jews??? Russia must correct this and force the Euro-Nazis to recognize the act of genocide of Soviet people!

There were no blanks in the guns used in this film. All the shooting scenes used live amunition. The machine gun was shooting real bullets and tracers just over the heads of the actors and the cow was actually killed.

In Russia and the CIS countries (the former USSR), fascism is hated for this. Everyone in the family, at least someone suffered from this bestial madness that the fascists were doing on our land. My mom had a friend from Ukraine. As a little girl, she was thrown out of the barn window by adults at the moment when the fascists set people on fire. There was a lot of smoke. She ran off into the woods with two small children. She came across Soviet "Red" partisans in the forest. They took care of her, and she survived. P.S. There were many such villages in Ukraine and Belarus, where the fascists "ran around".

It’s called, “Ordinary Men” and because the Nazis started to see how such up close personal killing on a mass scale really messed with a person, they decided to industrialize it, to make it impersonal like the concentration/death camps.

But it has bizarre, grotesque ,farcical and borderline tragic comedic elements. (Both photography scenes come to mind) But in my opinion they support the horrific feel the director was aiming for.
