Combining ICM and non ICM images - Lightroom to Photoshop. Woodland example.

In this video I walk you through the combining of ICM and non ICM images made in the woodland this week. The images were made at the same time to capture the detail and atmosphere. My idea to bring them together was to create a hybrid that showed what I saw better than each image could alone. I walk you through two examples from the same woodland. Images made in Tervuren Arboretum just east of Brussels in Belgium.

I was just amazed to see that colour in the spring when it was just from the leaves not blossom - a definite bonus for me.

So glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the comment. Its a process I use a lot to balance back ICM images that have lost a little of what I originally saw in the scene.

Thanks Charlotte 👍- I'm learning more about ICM everyday. I wouldn't have thought of combining multiple images in this way, but the affect is stunning, at least they are in your images 😀 I have a question for you. When you start to blend the 2nd batch of images (around 12mins) you say the combination is "still flat". I'm just wondering what you mean by this? Thanks... Stu 🤓

Hi Stu - 'flat' is a feeling of how much depth the image has when you look at it. Do you feel carried through the image, or do you feel that it is 2 dimensional and that you are looking at something rather than into it. Hope that helps. I love to encourage the viewer into my images and ensuring that the light is variable throughout the image can help with this.
