Combine Seeder Saves Time and Fuel by Seeding Covers during Harvest - Practical Cover Croppers
Make the most of time and fuel with a one-pass system to air seed cereal rye during corn harvest. Nick Smith and his dad, Jack Smith, both of Epworth, IA give an overview of their setup: a Gandy air seeder mounted on a combine to simultaneously combine and seed covers. Jack explains the process, saying “The rye is shot ahead of the corn head, then all the [corn] residue is mulched on top of it,” which provides moisture for the rye to germinate.
