To the announcers: Emergency trauma medicine is a whole different animal than standard medical care. That's why they were calling for the people that are specialized in handling those kinds of situations even though they have a team doctor. Not to mention if it had been a serious life threatening situation you need the EMTs to bring a stretcher and prep the patient for transport and everything else.

Not only to the announcers. This is to everyone. I'm the spouse of a emergency medicine physician and the things they're trained to deal with are very different than a generalist. There are specialties in medicine for a reason.
From Twitter: Per #CBJ spokesman, Sean Kuraly was evaluated at Grant Medical Center, but not admitted. He was sent home Saturday evening after battery of tests proved negative. Unclear how much time, if any, he’ll miss. Don’t expect an update from club until after the three-day holiday break.
Could be a ruptured spleen. Happened to a guy on my lax team years ago - got sandwiched and seemed innocuous enough, but ended up needing a medevac and almost died from internal bleeding. Hope he's ok.

I was flying the wing one day and the metal plate in the floor covering the hole where the Volleyball net went popped out and my stick went into it, INSTANT STOPPAGE.... luckily I had my stick down and both hands on it and , I did not let go and held on like hell with both hands , it speared me in the midriff and it flipped me all the way over and I almost landed on my feet, good thing there was a massive well taped knob on that stick or I could have been impaled.I think his hands came off his stick which sucks.

Bonkers that the NHL and teams haven’t changed protocols on this, would be easy to implement EMTs/doctors in the tunnel behind the benches (instead of crossing the ice) and a panic button located at the bench to speed these situations up.
