I have to really say, this is how you would do a continuation in the modern era, no trendy stuff added to lines, no slangs, just fine words that fits the character in a environment like this!

The sad part is that he could have easily altered his alibi by doing the old forehead-tap-and-shake and say "What was I thinking? Lieutenant, I wasn't playing the PS2 release of Kingdom Hearts, it was the PS3 remaster collection, Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix. I really must apologize, but I've been so busy lately, what with the murder, and I must've forgotten which version it was." Course... That'd be when Columbo notes that they added trophies with HD 1.5 Remix and his player profile doesn't show anything...

The thing that makes the writing in this video 100% Columbo is how he says “My memory from that dreadful night, it’s all jumbled”. Like, why would his memory be jumbled if he was supposedly unaware that the murder was taking place? It’s just a subtle hint in his speech to remind the reader that yes, he is guilty, and he’s starting to crack. Excellent job, sir.

Well, we don't know what happened previously in the hypothetical episode. The image they're using for the killer is Jack Cassidy's character from Murder By the Book, and that character *did* contrive to "find out" basically on the day of the murder, and gave himself a good reason to have memory problems.

I watch this video every day. I'm not sure why.

I love this video. It's such a bizarre cross-section of late 00s console war memes and Columbo. This is one of those things the algorithm will drag up for somebody in like 10 years time and be completely incomprehensible. Heck, will people even remember the "PS3 has no games" thing in 10 years? That's not its legacy over time and was very much a critique concentrated around the first couple of years of its life.

@@johnmartinez7440 the early ps3s that were backwards compatible sold for $600 USD and were highly unreliable. part of the reason for that high price is that the backwards compatibility was achieved by putting ps2 internals into the ps3, which also probably wasnt great for cooling. i sure as hell wish they were all ps2 compatible, but the change wasnt made for no good reason

As someone who has only seen the episode of Columbo with Leonard Nimoy, this is not accurate at all because there's no Leonard Nimoy.

I've noticed some things, while watching the show. Columbo's life stories about wife, siblings, etc. aren't consistent. If you ever note them down, it turns out gibberish. For example Columbo does not know how to cook at all, then he said he learned to cook since childhood, in one case he and his wife could not find a babysitter for the children, in other they never had children, said he does all the shopping for the house and then said Mrs. Columbo manages all the family funds, and so on. What I get from this is that Columbo is either a pathological liar or screenwriters just forgot what they've written in previous series. I like to think it's the forward and it's all a facade, a musk to gain trust. Or he simply doesn't tell the whole truth about his real life to people who are potential criminals. There is also a clear difference between "public Columbo" and "Columbo on his own", it's like two different men. Either way, I believe that Columbo is a good man, who wants to do the right thing. It's just that there is some sort of darkness in him as well.

I think it's less that he feels a need to lie about his home life, and more that he deliberately makes up whatever detail he needs in order to casually guide a conversation towards nudging the details he wants out of someone in a way that sounds offhanded and nonthreatening.

I just started watching it today and it is my new favorite show.

It is genuinely *shocking* how accurate to the show your performance as Columbo is, Gianni. The voice, the mannerisms, sound design, it's like Falk himself is doing this.

I like to think that the guy columbo is talking to didn't commit the murder, he was just embarrassed about the game he was playing.

I just love how they both agree that the PS3 has no games, like at all, aside from old PS2 and PS1 games. This is incredible!

Everything I learn about Jerma has been against my will. I'm curious to see how much I can learn from this method

But see, those fine nerds over at Sony couldn't figure out how to fit that alongside the rumble in the controller, so those controllers didn't have that feature. Now tell me, 'cause all this mumbo-jumbo is going over my head; how would you be playing with rumble if you ain't got one of those Dualshocks?"

The way he said "ps3 has no games" was hilarious.

Not gonna lie, the shift from KH to FF7 with Cloud as the common factor was a stroke of momentary genius. I'd have admitted guilt the second he called out my PS3 not being able to play PS2 games.

@@barragethree5047 I'll note that while Peacock is free, it's "technically" only usable in the US. If you're from outside the US a VPN can bypass that though. I'll also note that you'll have to download an apk and be in airplane mode if you wanna watch it on your phone. It is well worth the effort though. Columbo is a fantastic show to put on before bed.

Damn, this script being this good, and then you drop the bombshell of MR ELBERTSON? 10/10.

Nearly 3 minutes of “modernized” Columbo. Beautiful. The best part is that this joke could be relevant again thanks to the PS5’s limited library. :V

The “PlayStation (number larger than 3) has no games is a timeless joke and has been relevant for the ps3, ps4 (it still is for that one) and ps5. It’ll probably apply for the ps6 and ps7 when those come out

I love how this feels like you asked AI to recreate a modern Columbo episode, but it's not. This is brilliant work! The voice acting, the dialogue...it's 100% accurate to the show!

you see of course, a crafty killer woulda claimed he was playing Final Fantasy Tactics instead, but columbo always makes them try and use the easy excuses. Truly a timeless show.

I would absolutely, unironically, watch an entire movie in this style. Like, I love the idea of a classic murder mystery movie like this, but all of the dialogue is slightly tweaked to make it funnier and more memable.

I rewatched this funny little meme video a few days ago, then later found out that I could watch columbo on peacock. Am now 6 episodes in. Its actually a really really great detective show, Peter falk is amazing, and this video gets the nuances of lieutenant columbo down perfectly

@@stocchinet I feel like he's more of a brawler kind of guy, usually sticking to the older characters, but not minding a try at the "anime swordfighters" from time to time.

My parents love colombo and when i showed this to them they thought that this was absolutely brilliant because of how well it mimics the writing and the voice of both colombo and the jack cassidy is nice too

You two do a phenomenal voice acting with this script. I keep come back to watch this again and again 😂 and oh our poor Mr.Elbertson

Me being a gamer his late 20s who grew up watching Columbo, I was laughing with tears in my eyes the whole video. 🤣👏👏👏 The story, voice acting, and character personalities were spot on!

The dialog is interstellar, I laughed several times when watching this. Seeing serious middle-aged men from another time talking about gamer things and knowing that Jack Cassidy's character is a gamer and a Twitch streamer is beyond hilarious xD
