Columbine Memorial 2020- Would Have Been Cassie Bernalls 39th Birthday Today

In this video, I visit the Columbine High School Memorial which pays respect to all 13 victims from the 1999 Massacre at the High School. If you are wanting to visit the Memorial for yourself, it is located on the hill behind the school at Clement Park. Of course be respectful and mindful while you are there. Today November 6, 2020 would have been Cassie Bernalls 39th birthday. Keep the victims in your hearts and always remember!!

I was a senior in HS. I’ll never forget coming home and hearing about this on the news. I knew some one who knew Rachel Scott and accidentally told her Rachel was among the dead. Didn’t think in a million years I would ever find her name listed. I heard Craig’s story of survival and Rachel’s family has turned this tragedy into a positive. Trying to spread love and not hate. Rachel was on earth only 17 years but has truly impacted countless.

Very nice job with this, Harmin. A bit more information about Dave Sanders: as his memorial indicates, he was born in Illinois, but he grew up in Indiana. He graduated from Fountain Central High School in Veedersburg, Indiana, and their basketball court is named in his honor. Also, I believe the student referenced in the quote shown at 20:40 is Patrick Ireland. He was paralyzed for a time after being shot in the head, but mostly recovered from it with months of therapy. He had to re-learn how to read and write, but he returned to Columbine and graduated as co-valedictorian of the class of 2000.

Thanks very much Steve, I appreciate all the extra information. Dave was a stand up guy and saved a ton of people that day. I had a feeling that quote was about Patrick Ireland. Although, Richard Castaldo (who was sitting next to rachel) was shot and paralyzed too. So it could be him.

This is really the first tribute video I've come across. Most people just want to talk about the tragedy, not get to know who the victims were as people. I respect that you not only paid your respects, but also wanted to get to know who they were through the memorial. I have a story about Corey Depooter that I wanted to share. I learned this after watching an interview with Craig Scott in 2019. I'm so glad you mentioned that Corey wanted to go into the military because this story kind of aligns with that in a way. Craig, as most of you know, was in the library that day, Corey was too. He said that when the shooters got close to Corey's table, Corey stood up and confronted them. He tried to talk the two boys out of what they were doing, but as we all know, it didn't work. Although Corey didn't get to serve our country, he did put his life on the line to try to save his classmates. If that doesn't scream "heroic", I don't know what does.

Kind of a full circle thing. You fail to mention how Eric and Dylan were harassed. Stuffed into lockers and had ketchup filled tampons (meant to mimic used tampons) thrown at them. Of course they did shit things, but if you got humiliated day in and out, would you crack? You'd end up self harming and transferring schools like all other chastised girls ever.

She has every right to humanize her son. He was a human being with mental health issues..and add his severe depression with Eric’s homicidal sociopathic self and this unfortunately is what happened. No body deserved to die, especially the way these 13 were, but you have to remember that these people who did this were also someone’s kid, grandkid, brother, friend..they weren’t always a “monster”.

I remember the day well. I was a Junior in high school. Of course this is before the instant news Era. I got home from school that day and my mother was sitting in front if the chair crying. I walked in the door and she immediately got up grabbed me and just hugged me. I of course asked what was wrong and she told me. I was just dumbfounded watching the news. I couldn't and to this day understand how those boys become so angry that they did this. I know that for tge families of the victims the hurt will never stop...I just hope that they can at some point find peace. What I didn't know were the names of the victims...all u ever hear about is Harris and klebold....which us a tragedy in and of itself. Thank u for educating me...I will pray for all if them.

I just turned 12 2 months before this happened. I remember watching it on the news with my parents. I didn't know really what was going on because I was a kid but now being 33 years old and seen so much in my life it kills me inside. I have 3 children that goes to school. My oldest is 14 years old. Same age some of those kids were. :(

It sure is crazy. Trust me I always say I love you to my kids and give them hugs and kisses before I see them go on the bus every morning. My 3 kids are my life. I do feel so bad for all those parents that lost their kids that day. 😔😔 I love watching your videos. I have watched a lot of them.

Still over 20 years later, I look at all these sweet, innocent, young faces and can't imagine how someone could walk up to them, raise a shotgun of tech 9 to them, and shoot them. I'll never understand. by the way, I think the 4.0 student paralyzed quote is in reference to Patrick Ireland, whose half his body was paralyzed after he was shot in the head.

Hey harmin! I am trying so hard to not take my life for granted and try to live it the best I can I have a very very negative life my family members make me feel less noticeable and they ignore me all the time they even made me fall in deep depression this year and I can't stand this so I ended up blocking most of my family members on face until they learn their lesson they've hurt me. And if they can't make it up I bet when I die it will be so late and they will be feeling bad for me I swear that

I am 22 years old I have a very negative family that always causes me lots of pain I fell in very deep depresion a year ago. My family are always fighting over everything and telling lies about everything that aren't true 🤔. And my mom's nieces care more about her more than me they talk to her more than me and when I wanna message them they always ignore my messages all the time and to my mom they don't they are caring about her more. So on December 20 2021 I ended up blocking all my cousins and believe me 7 months later almost I been feeling alot better! I know how to control my depresion 🙂. And sometimes I feel like I might die young and that's why I am trying my best to enjoy my time in earth because today i am here and tomorrow is never promised and I know that if thoae people don't appreciate me while I am here on earth I know once I am no longer here they will regret all the ( shit). Why should they get memorials? Why should we immortalize mass murderers as though they are as deserving of being remembered with respect as their victims? If you want memorials for the murderers, Tumblr has you covered, you'll also find entire fanfics, fanart, poetry, and declarations of love dedicated to them. Or you could read Sue Klebold's book specifically for Dylan. But as for the school, I see no reason why they should be remembered as though they were equal to their victims.
