I bought this gun in black in 06/23 and have put about 500 rounds through it and it's a wonderful 1911. I think it is very accurate. I did change to a full length guide rod and I put a buffer in it, the slide loosens up a little which does not matter because it has a fixed barrel and it is not dependent on lock-up. I bought it because it is just to expensive to shoot my 1911 45's and as it turns out it's a lot of fun to shoot. I have only had two Failed To Fire's due to a bad bullet, the pin struck the rim hard but no bang. The trigger is wonderful, no creep, take-up or over travel. They did a hell of a good job on these... BTW: I only own 1911's and one of them is over 100 years old, and yeah I'm old also...👍

I just picked up the standard 1911A1 .22 as a practice piece to my .45 1911's. Absolutely nothing but fun! After owning it for 24 hours I had 3 more factory magazines on the way for it. Good video Capitan.

mines gave me nothing but problems no matter what ammo i shoot through it no matter how much i oil it up it malfunctions on almost every mag i guess i’m going to have to send er back and get it looked at and fixed

I bought one a few years ago from a big box store that had it on a clearance price. It was in FDE. Only $350! Quality weapon. And a lot of fun to shoot. I am glad I added it to my stable of other 1911's.

Just picked mine up from favorite mom and pop gun shop….love them. Haven’t fired it yet. Spring snow continues in the Rockies. Soon though. As you said, credit due, it feels just like my issue 1911. Numerous higher-ups in the Police have even said the gov't tactics are misplaced and will not result in a decrease in violent crime which mostly stems from illegal guns, many smuggled from the USA (no offence, my US neighbours!).

Very good review! Thank you. I bought the Gold Cup version a few years ago and it's a great shooter. I found some nice checkered wood grips with the Colt medallion and they really set it off nicely. It's a great gun for practice drawing from concealment with a shot timer and not spending much on ammo. Enjoy!

I worked with a guy that had one and complained about it never cycling, I could have got that thing for a song if I was persistent I believe. I didn’t have the know-how about how to gunsmith these things like I do now, 3 years later. I LOVE a sight set up regulated for a 6 o'clock hold. That means at longer ranges you have less to worry about.

I have the Gold Cup version of this one, the Taurus TX 22 and a couple of discontinued oldies I won't mention since they're not available any more. The Colt ( Walther) and the Taurus are both huge fun! I recommend either one. Go for it!

Looks cool. I can tell you its smart to have a 22lr around. Once i hiked into the Selway wilderness in Idaho and tarp camped. Wood rat came and trued to be room mate with me. 22lr handgun can be an handy thing to keep around.

Thank you for this! I purchased this gun a few years ago when ammo prices skyrocketed. It´s perfect for cheap target practice and cool too. I bought some after market goodies from Taylor Tactical to increase my target practice enjoyment, but I would not recommend the higher capacity magazines as the springs seem too weak to work properly in this gun.

I bought a Walther Colt Gold Cup when these were released approx 12 years ago. Have about 10k rounds through this baby. Had a famous Gun Smith (Roger Kotanko) Ontario, Canada, do a 2lb trigger job on it. He said it's the best 1911 in 22 lr that he has worked on. That's saying a lot from such a reputable gun Smith. It's pretty accurate and reliable. Not a tac driver but pretty amazing. Super smooth with tight fitting. Beautiful pistol.

True about the minimags. They work and they are accurate.

Here in the UK I have one in .22 but it’s called a long barrel pistol due to gun laws, it looks like it has a moderator fitted but doesn’t and it has a metal rod and weight on the back moulded into the grip area to make it legal here, it’s fun to shoot but as close as we can get to having a pistol other than black powder.

A completely seperate question - you mention a Lee 'Post sizing die' in your fantastic two part series on the Lee Loadmaster. I cannot source this from Lee - is it sold under another description? I purchased a GSA 1911-22 a couple years back, it doesn't have a rail but other than that virtually identical. I enjoy it very much, the only issues have been ammo related failures to fire and it seems to be manufacturer specific. That magazine loading aid would be nice to have, after loading 5 mags there's an indent in the old thumb.

I am a fan of Mini Mags as well. I do own 1 rifle that isn't fond if Mini Mags though. It is an old Western Field pump that has had thousands if rounds shot through it. The firing pin doesn't have enough power to ignite the primer on Mini Mags. It will shoot most other brands. It's just old and tired, like me. I don't fault the ammo at all.

Nice little video. Another channel I follow also posted a video on the Walther Colt .22 and had good things to say about it, too. I had been thinking about a Ruger 22/45 but this seems like a better alternative.

I've owned two fine Ruger .22 pistols since my first, a Mark I that my dad bought new for me in 1964. They are terrific, accurate pistols with a long record of success. However, for me, this 1911 handles more naturally, sits lower, points better, and has a much cleaner, crisper trigger. It's more compact and there are infinite holsters made for it.

Hi there. over 48years shooting here. My experience with the Walther Colt Rail Gun was not as positive - trigger was less than expected sadly. So much so, that I returned it - came back with no difference. To better console myself, I went and tried a Volquartsen Black Mamba - LOVED IT until I saw the price. The I noticed that its really a Ruger 22/45 tricked out. SO.... I went and got a Ruger 22/45 LITE and BOUGHT a Volquartsen Drop-in Trigger Set for the Mark IV - I can't be happier! $600 +$250 + 1hr of install time (I followed the Volquartsen instruction videos slowly) - much better than $1,800 for a Black Mamba. Stay away from this gun and invest it in the proven Ruger, or S&M 41 if you can afford it. It's got to feel good for you. Peace!

Hey gunblue, I would be really interested to hear you opinion on the Tisas ASF M1911A1s (the new parkerized ones) since you're so familiar with the platform. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts and maybe even compare it side by side with your Colt. I personally think the quality is outstanding for the $400 I paid for it!

I have looked at these as a training pistol, as I carry a 1911, and .22LR ammo at $3.00 for 50 rounds sure beats paying 10 times that for .45ACP. Only I would like to find one with a threaded barrel, so as not to alert the neighbors to some back yard fun. Funny about Murphy and the grandfather clock. My 2 pups know it is time to eat in their own way. Not sure they relate to the amount of daylight, or what. When we turn the clocks back in November, they want to be fed an hour earlier.

They all have threaded barrels. It simply requires an adapter.

It is a reasonably good weapon. Few, if any misfires or cycling issues. 10 round magazines, accurate, well made and reasonable price point. A flash light hangs nicely on the rail if you decide on it for self defense purposes and keep it next to your bed at night. Excellent economical option for practice to maintain 1911 skills without breaking the bank on today’s ammunition prices. Eats cheap Remington bulk ammunition nicely and accurately.

I have a Blue Line Solutions GSG 1911 in the Flat Dark Earth Mauser configuration ... a very handsome pistol with great sights and a superb trigger , in my opinion ! Looking forward to my first day at the range with it , especially since I added a few bucks worth of ZR Tactical parts intended to enhance accuracy ! it's my first 1911 , though I had experience and earned an Expert marksmanship rating in the Coast Guard years ago . I'm eyeing a Tisas 1911 Raider model in 9mm ... should be fun !

I am a licenced collector of ".22 rimfire firearms" here in Australia. I am trying to get examples of different actions/styles. This gun is the next on my list of items to collect. A used one of these costs about $500 to $650 Australian. so I am saving up.

I believe I've seen these for $419. Very good for training, hunting, and trapping. Anyone with a 1911 should have one or two of these. We want to see the girl who is helping on the chrono, LOL.

I wonder how the colther compares to the beretta 92 in .22. I have a 87bb thats really nice. Actually so nice i dont want to shoot it alot. The last owner said the same thing.

I've had this exact pistol for about 8 months and I really enjoy taking it out, the only complaint I have is the mags are pretty expensive

Have you had any issues with the barrel coming loose? I have been interested in buying one of these forever, since I love the 1911's! However, I owned the Walther made P-22 years ago when they were first introduced! They were distributed by Smith & Wesson! It blew up in my hand one day at the range! The frame just ahead of the breech ruptured (A piece flew off about the size of a nickel and hit me in the forehead)! Seeing that these 1911 copies have a similar (Alloy frame, and threaded on sleeved barrel) type of construction, I was curious about their quality! My Walther P-22 had the same type of barrel (Threaded on) and it would continuously shoot loose! The salesman told me to try "Pipe Tape" on it! Which I never did of course. After it "Blew-Up" Smith & Wesson offered to send me a new gun! I refused, so they agreed to send me the Walther 380 (Not the PPK) instead! God Bless... Bill

Actually made by Umarex which owns Walther. Mine has some issues. It shoots accurately, but the slide frequently gets stuck in a retracted position so I constantly have to pull the slide back so it can return to an in-battery condition. The gun cannot tolerate any grit inside, which inevitably happens after 10/15 rounds of any .22LR , and I only use copper/brass coated high velocity ammo. I tried CCI mini-mags with no better results than 40 grain Remington Golden Bullet or Aguila super-extra which run flawlessly in other .22LRs.

Umarex makes airguns. They own Walther, but Umarex does not make firearms. All aluminum frame guns require light oiling of the slide to prevent hangup. Place one drop of light oil on each rail and you will have no issues. These handguns will fire continuously for an indefinite number of rounds with no malfunction. I have fired 300 rounds on two occasions with no problem whatsoever. It's the cleanest 22 I have ever used in my entire life, and is self cleaning, with no places to harbor carbon. Ammunition does not contain grit of any sort.

@@GunBlue490 I guess I got a lemon. I keep it clean and well oil and it regularly malfunctions. I do believe Umarex made this and numerous other .22LRs including the FN502 and others. I spoke to Walther and they told me Umarex makes the 1911 whereas the PPQ .22LR which I also have is a joint effort. Call it what you want, but once numerous .22LR rounds are through any gun, you do have a kind of slurry inside the gun. As you know, .22LRs are a very dirty round. I clean my .22LR's after every use whereas my 9mms can go 250 rounds or more before I feel compelled to clean them. I like the Walther 1911 and love how accurately it shoots, but I've been unable to get it to function properly.

GGG in Germany has been churning these lil numbers out under everybody elses name since 2010, when the 1st to market with Sig Sauer..😊 Dispise the ceracoat finish and alumi/magnesium slide... the steel slide hold open wears and displaces the contact.. 😮😢

This is not the Sig, nor does it have that soft slide issue. It's made only by Walther (a subsidiary of Umarex) under license by Colt. It's a very hard and durable aluminum alloy, just as any alloy firearm, such as the AR-15 is.

Try a Tisas 1911 excellent value

You wanna be surprised? put a suppressor on it with some subsonic .22 and you will only hear the slide move back and forth. So quiet

Would you please share the specs of an indoor range like yours. Safety, ventilation, exhaust, distance, sound dampening etc. Anything that you can share. It's quite ordinary, actually. The range is 50 feet. Strong ventilation with an 800 CFM exhaust fan and 4 inch outside duct is directly above me. I've provided direct lighting to both the shooting position and the target. I use a simple 22 bullet trap, but will be upgrading it to a larger one with greater area to catch strays. The backstop is the concrete basement with an insulated 2x4 sheetrock wall. It's vital to have no windows where bullets can possibly exit, or to shield them with steel.

I usually buy one or two more magazines for recreational pistols. I don't like it when so-called extra magazines are included that drives the price up for those who otherwise desire one. I personally know a number of people, including police officers, who want only one magazine for an off duty carry or concealed carry. How many loaves of bread one takes home is a personal matter.

I need to ask a question- I watched a video on the Wilson Combat Channel where Massad Ayoob preaches that dropping the slide on an empty chamber will cause every misfortune in the book including firearm damage and to never do it. It this legit or is it nonsense? Thanks.

It's a legitimate issue with certain overpriced, fragile 1911 guns, but not with a 1911 made as John Browning intended. I've been dropping the slide on my 1911s for 55 years and the sky has not fallen yet. I've known Massad since 50 of those years and shot with him, and he's not a god.

The FDE color scheme makes the rail bearable, but I cannot imagine one on a stainless or a blued 1911.

I read mixed feedback on types of ammo this runs. Does this run bulk cheap ammo? My goal is cheap reliable target practice

I disagree - it jams all the time with cheap ammo . - after a 1000 to 5000 round count you’ll be ready to trade sell or give it away if you shoot 50 rounds at a time this will do well for you . If you’re a shooter this thing is no good .

I got 3 they all suck - they jam and do not feed consistently. Put 1000 rounds thru one with cleanings every 200 then you will know they suck . Good and clean the first 50 to 100 are smooth sometimes!!!

I've seen some video on questionable poorly fitted parts from the Colt custom shop it was a 1911 military spec in 45 acp brown coated covering, the fit barrel bushing to the barrel was slacker than it should have been, it must of affected the accuracy of this high-end pistol, the fit slide to frame rattled without a bullet being discharged down the range, thumb safety didn't feel positive, they talked about the flange magazine well, had at the bottom a gap you could pass a sheet of paper through, it cost over 2200 dollars and came directly from the Colt custom shop. This video is on You-tube makes a legitimate argument for not now buying a colt 1911, what on earth is going on? I understand Colt has changed hands, no one can sell on their reputation alone, standards and quality control seems to be wanting for another phrase that comes to mind. Colt at one time meant to the most part excellence and reliability built into these fine guns, USA stood for something then, I sure loved to shoot my "Gold Cup" and it was extremely accurate and well made with tight fit tolerances, how does these things happen, Colt was a giant in the industry, hmm sad. As a young man in the early 80's I bought my first 1911 Gold Cup the build quality was excellent, tight Bushing to barrel fit, tight slide to frame fit, positive click as you thumb hit down the thumb safety, there are several video's on poorly fitted pistols and revolvers, the Colt Anaconda 44 magnum had a review his revolver he took the stock grips off to see the inside workings, there was chunks not grinded down but it looked like it had been chiseled down, hmm the video camera picked it up in great detail, what a untidy mess under the stock grips, then he tried to put the grips back on it, he was going on about the grips being difficult to align them due to poor engineering. I had a few good years in the Tyne Valley Gun Club as vice chairman all that meant really was life membership, 40 odd years ago yes it was fun and I shot a lot of ball 230 grain down range, yet the slide remained reasonably tight after 2000 rounds, can you tell me what's happening to their brand, have they no pride in their workmanship. Colt1911 warmest regards, the sport of shooting in competitions alas got canned in the UK I just watch others shoot on You-Tube these days since they reformed the part one firearm license many years ago. I'm badly disabled so I have to get others to type messages, but I wondered what Colt is doing. @ColtDee

After running 22LR through a suppressor, I can see no reason to even consider a pistol in that caliber without a threaded barrel.

@@chrishynes6091 I think the slides of both pistols are made from aluminum. The Browning barrel is removable. The Colt barrel is fixed. The Colt appears to be the same pistol offered by Umarex.

I produced a video on that very same issue. It's certainly not harmful to any 1911 as originally built by Colt. Every US military service issued 45 slide was dropped every day in service at guard mount inspection with absolutely no concern. My issued Remington Rands that I carried in the Army were made before WWII and had been thusly handled their entire existence. Yes, there are fragile 1911s whose manufacturers can't deal with that. I wouldn't own such toys. Like any original, this Colt slide can and will be safely dropped and dry fired as long as I own it. Mass has frequented all the NH competitions that I competed in, and he picks up his drawers just like anyone.

No, by Colt I mean Colt. CZ owns Colt, but the same historic factory still makes guns in West Hartford, Connecticut. Colt exclusively licensed Walther, which is owned by Umarex, to make the 1911 .22LR pistol. Holding companies are not manufacturing facilities.
