While my practical side tells me the stainless Python's finish is a bit more durable, I have always been a sucker for a nicely blued revolver and to me, the Python is at the top of that list! What a beautiful work of art and thank you for bringing it to us kind sir.

I agree.

I like it but not a fan of the 3 vent slots on a 4 inch . It makes it look like a Taurus in my opinion. It makes it look too busy or cluttered. Please ask Colt at shot show why they changed this and bring back the 2 vents .

Well, I'm not going to get "all shook up" just yet. I hope colt doesn't fuck up the first batch, like they did in 2020 AND I hope they went to Bill Wilson and used his rear sights. It's an f'n shame that after spending $1500 we have to spend another $100+ for a rear sight that fits like it should have....IN THE FIRST PLACE!!

I agree, I need to calm down. I am still pissed my 1400$ python needs a rear sight. If Colt cared about customer service they would fix it for free. I'm just gonna lock tight my rear sight wilson sight is expensive.

Yea I bought the 2020 python the week it was released and was incredibly disappointed in it. The cylinder had a ton of end shake, rear sight was loose as hell and worst of all the crowning had several dents on it.

I like blued guns over stainless. Still struggling with the 1499 price tag though. Could I afford it? Yes. Do I think it's worth it? Still up for debate.

That beautiful Colt blueing. A Python looks great regardless. I hope Colt according to Wilson Combat had issues with the rear sight screw not staying seated and recommending their Python rear sight that they felt was a quality replacement. So when I purchased my Python I ordered a complete set a front gold bead and a Wilson Combat rear sight which looks identical to stock but supposedly fixing the issue with the screw. Nice gun indeed I also purchased a set of Altamont Super Rosewood with snake scale checkering and rampant Colt inlays. I don't think all this is necessary to have a beautiful gun but I enjoy it. Thanks for a great review Hunter and Ozzie sends his best to Corporal 🤜🤛

I handled a similar Python at my local leathersmith's shop in South Idaho being fitted for a custom holster. I respected that it wasn't mine and controlled my drooling. Nice video.

It's off-putting to me. The 4' (now 4.25") have always had two, the 6" ers always had three and the 8's always had 4. And yet the 3" only has 1.

I like the 3 vents.

Tell them to make the vent ribs like they do on the stainless and old models. Three vent ribs on a 4 inch barrel make it look like a Rossi.

Yeah, I don’t like the three vent slots instead of two. I’m surprised he didn’t mention that difference. Colt didn’t do that with the new stainless, so not sure why they changed on these new blue ones. Because it’s a 4.25” bbl instead of 4”? 🤷‍♂️.

Totally agree. Colt should've kept the number of vents in the rib at two and kept it consistent with the stainless model. The comment about it looking like a Rossi is right on! If you want three vents, get the classic 6-inch barrel.

I brought home a new blue Python yesterday. For $1600.00 I got a sticky cylinder release and a seven pound single action trigger pull. Yippee. All the same extras I got with a new Anaconda last year.

Why did Colt change the barrel vents? With the 4.25" barrel going from 2 to 3 vents, will this change be similar in the different barrel lengths?

Did they tighten up the rear sight like they did with the 2.5” Python?

I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this 4.25” Blue Python. I was so excited I was blind and didn’t notice Colt added a third vent. Once it was pointed out I looked at it again more carefully and unfortunately I was out. I don’t like the look of a third vent on the 4.25” and it was a deal breaker for me. I hope Colt will put it back to the was it was with 2 vents. Once they come out with the other barrel lengths I’ll look a little more carefully.

Could you ask Colt to make Python Red Dot friendly? Love the trigger, but with my eyes, it just takes too long to find the iron sight. I want to put Red Dot, but since Python is not drilled and tapped, there is only one tiny screw hole for the rear sight elevation.

So glad to see them doing this! But I'm having a tough time looking at three vents on a 4.25" bbl. Enough so, that I'd probably get the 6" with three, but I really prefer the balance of 4" .357's over 6". Not sure why they did that. Looks like somebody's "Copy" of a Python.

True. Ive studied Metallurgy extensively in my blacksmithing career. It doesnt mattet how advanced Stainless Steels get. Good old fashioned Carbon Steel is just plain tougher..and I know the Modern Carbon Steels have also been advanced and improved. Carbon all the way.

No problems with the new Pythons after the first few that had to be corrected.

colt introduced a 5 Inch barrel with 3 vents so is this blued a 5inch or 4.25

I have the 5, but these vents look too close together and the barrel looks to short. The 5" has the long look to it, but this one looks short.

I can do a video about what timing is in a revolver but I don't know how to time or retime one.

That is what the Coral Springs, Fla. police carried when I was a kid in the 70s.

Just got one. The cylinder release on mine drags and feels like serrated metal against serrated metal. Not smooth AT ALL. The number of vents some people complain about is funny. The vent slots are only esthetic. They don’t vent gasses.
