@@manuelsanchez5028 It should say somewhere on the box or in the manual/ paperwork. You can also usually tell by: The exterior: The early series 80 versions were all mate finish. The newer series 70 models have polished (brushed) flats on the slide and frame. Also usually the series 80s had a serial number starting with a number CCS01..., The newer series 70 models start with CCS02... The interior: Several ways to check, but the easy way...Series 80 have the firing pin plunger next to the slide disconnector rail, while it is omitted on the series 70.

I can attest this is a great gun and highly recommend it to anyone thinking about getting one. Bought one about 3 years ago when I saw one available at my LGS. Was completely shocked as many Colts were not compliant in MA for many years, especially Series 70 guns like this. Immediately told the seller I wanted it the moment I saw it. Mine is blued as well, but it's one of the newer ones that come with a nice, polished finish unlike the specimen in the video. Was completely reliable with all the ammo I fed it and definitely more accurate than I can shoot. Not often I use the term "Worth every penny", but this was one of those occasions.

Tripp Research Cobra mags are the only mags I will buy because the mag release cut on the mag is lower than other mags so the rounds are higher up on the feed ramp which is why the jhp work every time. I learned to shoot the 1911A1 once the Marine Corps owned me in 78. I had shot a 1911 growing up, but once the professionals got me, it was night and day improvement. Once that gun imprints on your body and brain and the training is something you do not have to think about and the muscle memory is there, it is a hoot to shoot. People who complain about the recoil, they need to work out. Sure, I have a lot of modern pistols. However, nothing feels the same in my hand. Browning got it right.

my series 80 gold cups also had bad cuts in the front of the slide that would bind and cut up blue wilson recoil buffers, cleaned those out too. Best of all the gold cups were not overly tight in slide to frame fit. I've seen "high end" 1911 that were overly tight and were not reliable, I've run diamond magic compound in the rails of two so called high end guns that wouldn't run correctly, loosened them both up and they ran flawless after that....

Dude! How did you know?!? I've been looking for one of these for quite a few months now lol. Darn "supply shortages" lol. Also just noticed the sad rookie scratch on the frame from the slide lock.

Can't believe he kept going on about it being a series 70! Also on a match barrel you should never turn the the barrel bushing while it's in battery. The reason being if it's truly a fitted match barrel and you turn the bushing while it's in battery you could scratch the barrel. Take out the slide lock pin and remove the slide and barrel assembly, remove the barrel and then turn and remove the bushing for cleaning / lube.

Beautiful gun! Series 80 or not, with or without idiot scratches, with or without double guiderods... In place. 😉 Miss the famous Colt bluing though... I also hope that Colt survives and copes better in the future now that it has a new European owner with a more reality based business model.

Great review , I watched this video , curious, because I review air rifles and pistols here in the uk 🇬🇧, and I have reviewed the Weihrauch hw45 , in the states believe it’s called the Beeman p1 , and apparently that air pistol is based on the colt , cheers shaneweightman

Grip+trigger safety instead of thumb, full titanium alloy and double stack mags and night novak's.. Buttstock and grip readiness would make it suitable for more scenarios. 5.7 caliber would be super awesome for everyday carry

Man, i have to say, i was so disappointed when i got one of these in my hands. My buddy had me do a trigger job in his when his shoe came off the trigger bar, and the internals were crap (i replaced sear, disconnector, extractor, thumb safety, and put in and tuned a wilson flat trigger), plastic mainspring housing, alot of surface rust on the internals also, and finish on the black is terrible. The gun had around 200 rounds thru it, and i would absolutely positively never spend $1000+ on one of these. Id spend around the same money and buy a Dan Wesson...its 100x the gun that the colt "competition" is.

Most people will just pay for the name. The fact that they have the audacity to put a plastic mainspring housing on it, which is something overt that a layman could even notice as cheap is wild. On top of all the MIM parts you ran into and had to replace. I have two Colt pistols. A model 1908 in mint condition and a 1911 (not an A1 - never got updated, made just after the end of WWI) that was my grandfathers in WWII. I’m going to stick with those and shoot them occasionally or buy old for anything Colt firearms related.
