The people saying they wouldn't paint their computers don't really understand how plasti-dip works. Easily put, it isn't paint, it is a spray on sticker. It peels right off. It leaves no damage, it feels great, it lasts years. Pick up a can from your local auto shop and paint something that isn't your computer, learn what it is, and reconsider what you're saying.

***** Yes, it's a MacBook, not a MacBook Pro. It has 1 port, and it's a USB type C port... Which not too many devices use, and you have to use that port for charging also. It also has an unimpressive Core M processor. I would stay away from it, even though it comes on my favourite colour, gold. Apple can boost it's sales so much if it made a gold, matte black and a space grey MacBook Pro/ Air lineup.. As of now all the Macs are of the same colour - Silver :-/

Aaron Zhu A car and a laptop is not the same thing, particles from the plastic dip spray could go into the hardware, stick and mess with the internals/electricals of the laptop. If it was a low-mid range laptop i wouldnt care so much. But this is too much of a risk for a $1000+ laptop.

After reading so many comments about people picking fault with the idea, I thought I'd just add that I think this is a novel and interesting idea and that it looks very unique. Great work, Quinn.

I did this on my old Alienware M-14x because the smooth rubber paint was beginning to peel, and I have to say it looks pretty fucking cool. Looks better than it did when I bought it actually.

I did this to my macbook pro and it turned out awesome! I even did it twice, the first time i did not apply it well. so it wore off pretty fast. then i peeled it off (super easy and no remains). So people that are underestimating plasti dip, please watch some other videos and do your homework

I like it so much when I see others trying to make their MacBooks black, and here I am with my Late 2007 originally black MacBook which I still use every day. :D Amazing machine, works just fine with an SSD and upgraded RAM to this day, I never really felt the need to upgrade to a newer one, it doesn't feel slow at all. I use it for work and taking notes in university, for that it's perfect.

if you fold a piece of tape like so: _/\_ with the sticky side under; you can place it on the parts of the Apple logo. That way, that part is easily removable. Also, if you want to get rid of the plasti-dip, and some parts won't come off easily, use a micro fiber cloth.

What if your laptop's black, but you want to make it blue? And how resistant is this to dirt and wear? Thanks.

So if it later shows sings of wear and tear, if it is difficult to peel off later when it is fully cured, will we end up with an old skin looking like laptop? i might just stick to a vinyl cover. It is not a bad idea but what about heat dissipation since now the back is sealed, may be not . a-big deal but unfortunately apple makes it really difficult to even think abut changing anything about the laptop given the price.

Off topic; is it possible at all to upgrade the RAM on 2015 MBA?

I've done this multiple times with my macbook and it works perfectly fine so quit complaining that it'll mess it up cause it still hasn't. Only issue when opening the macbook up it rubs on your fingers a lot which makes it start peeling gets a bit annoying but a good look!
