I moved here about a year ago. Spent 6 months in an apartment while my house was being built. We rented a garage that had a 110v outlet and got by with that, but occasionally I would buzz up to Briargate to charge. Now that I'm in my house, we have a dedicated, wall mounted charger (EVSE) installed and just charge there 99% of the time while local. Since I charge up to 85% each day, I've never needed to charge in town after moving into the house. There are places in Colorado that are less agreeable with Teslas so I got Tesla to retrofit my car to work with CCS networks too so that I have more options available. Not perfect of course, but it works well enough. Actually, my biggest surprise was the lack of level 2 (slower) charging options at shopping centers or at hotels here - although I do see them at a handful of apartment complexes. Environmental benefits are nice, but what pulled me in was just how fun they are to drive without going deaf. Also, being a technologist, they better fit my taste and personality (phone with wheels). For those considering an EV, Colorado has one of the most generous incentive programs at the state level and if you combine that with the federal incentive (depending on the car) - that could be about $12,500 off. However, I bought mine while I still lived in Florida and before the federal incentives.

Yes to all of this! I will buy a Rivian next, mainly because the tax rebates here are crazy!

This is such a good comment. We actually missed the opportunity to talk about the EV tax breaks! Thanks for bringing that up and sharing your experience!

I came to COS to visit and check out if I want to move here, and yes the people camping in the left lane is insane, in free flowing traffic they're going five under when i want to set cruise at 5 over 🤦🏼‍♂️ 44:43

Yeah, I can see the driving thing. I used to live in SE Alabama - pretty laid back driving for the most part (except for granny doing 90 on a dirt road). When I moved to Atlanta, within a year, my driving style changed to be much more aggressive so much so that people back home refused to ride with me when I was the driver. However, the absolute worse drivers are in Orlando. Literally everyone's brain is on vacation mode.

Yeah. The wind is no joke. At least it isn't constant but occasionally, we do get aggressive winds. I have to replace my grill because it got blown over and into the neighbor's yard and into a pit being dug for their basement - the construction crew had to fish it out for us. So, yeah, I suppose I have to invest in sandbags now.

I have a question for Randy (and anyone else that may be watching this that recently moved to the Springs), with all that was talked about in mind... would you move to the Springs again?

I would move here again and again every time. There are way more positives about this city than any of the negatives I listed. If these are the worst 15 things I could experience while living here, then it’s still better than the 15 I could come up with living on the East Coast. The only thing I would change is I’d have moved here sooner tbh. This is my favorite city in the country! BY FAR!

I’m also relatively new here! I’ve lived here for about 2 years… I thought it would just be a transitory and then I’d move on, but I truly LOVE this place. The PROS wildly outweigh the cons. It’s safe, it’s FUN, it’s insanely beautiful, it’s growing and getting more good restaurants and entertainment, I love the weather (aside from the wind lol)… I honestly freaking love it here and don’t plan to leave any time soon

@@Joe-xx5to for the same cost, you get more house and land in the springs. By a lot! San Diego has better weather, and the best Mexican food. But that’s pretty much it. You can get virtually everything you want in San Diego here as well. I’m a mountain guy, thru and thru, so nothing beats CO in that department!

It is not beautiful! It's brown, everything is dead and the city does a terrible job at maintaining it. COS needs a beautification project desperately. We are not even talking about the roads and streets. And the wind! No thank you. Can't wait to leave. 300 days is NOT enough (ha, ha, ha)!

There is a huge fiber build throughout the US right now and for the next 5 or so years. Fiber is not common, but becoming so. Internet is not a problem, nor has it been since I've been here the past 3 yrs and work from home. BEAD and RDOF (gov't funding) is what is bringing most of the fiber throughout the US (accessibility for all).
