Thanks for taking another look at it, it was very fun watching you play and comment on it. Some comments: - We'll make it more clear how to heal and assign tags. - Dialogue is won by filling the disposition bar. Your high Charisma gave you a bonus, so you could get away by failing a check. Also "overshooting" a check gives you bonus disposition points. - PM don't contribute to dialogue checks, we need to disable tagging those skills for them. - Any particular reason you are not using the map screen? - The game is fully 3D, no pre-rendered backgrounds. We still need to add more people and civilian animations to make the towns more lively. Once again, thanks for checking it and looking forward to new playthroughs =)

Cool game! I can for sure see the Shadowrun inspiration. He likely looked over the map, but what you could do is have the icon blink (similar to how it does when a character has stat points to spend) when the player gets a new mission and a POI has been added.

This is the kind of game that I would love lore for. Like, if mission control is destroyed (they talk about its ruins) what are they going to do when they reach Alpha Centauri?

@@nutbastard I feel Splattercat kinda rushed through the PC line, so it felt a bit jarring, but it says as follows: “If we make it that far, you can definitely count on me. In the meantime, I can use your help with some unfinished business.” As for why he joins, it's his best chance to pay off his debt. You can dismiss him or continue "working" together.
SplatterCat's willingness to come back to a game that was in early access a few years and see where it is NOW has been absolutely invaluable to finding interesting games, especially if I wasn't sure the first time around.
25:45 - "How do you miss at that range?" I've actually witnessed folks fail their CCW qualification which requires 8/10 shots in the upper half of a silhouette target from 5 yards with no time limit.
Colony Ship is a great game so far. Really hoping for the endgame to be as good as everything else!
This game just shows the joy of living in rusted death trap in space.. very nice
Picked this one up recently myself. Really liked Age of Decadance and this one is looking good too. The great thing is that if you go through and take different choices you get different quests and outcomes. I don't think it is possible to see everything in one or even a few playthrus. And there is a screen where you can set which party member performs which actions (like persuasion, lockpick, etc.) You can also set it to automatically reload weapons and use medkits to heal at the end of combat if you want.
Good to see you covering this, this is a RPG that deserves more attention than it gets.

Oh, Crusader, No Regret. No Remorse. Nostalgia from the 1990s... I know one thing has nothing to do with the other, but, this gameplay kinda reminded me of that.
The disposition mechanic for conversations looks promising. It's a change from the old RPG mechanics where you either had Persuade 4 or got locked out. Now you got to converse with folks and win them over step by step, like a social tug of war. The setting is nice. There's not a lot of games using generation ships, and those that do put you on arrival. Not the generation after generation living out their lives for the mission.
I laughed so hard at Regulators: mount up. Without a pause

Fallout 1 & 2 and Shadowrun vibes throughout in this one. I wishlisted it back with Splat's original coverage of it and I'm looking forward to its full release. I hope you can get an animal companion (or killer robot), though in a derelict space ship I imagine it'd be a giant bug or mutant rat instead as something as nice as a dog.

I agree w it looking similar to Shadowrun. In what seems like a very good way in my opinion. Not only the new series, but the initial character creation screen put off vibes from the game on Sega Genesis. Which is my favorite of the franchise. Shame there still hasn't been a new action RPG iteration yet.
@user-pm8je4fo7e

Yeah, visually it is very heavily inspired by shadowrun (including thin vertical dialog placement, which was quite annoying to read in SR and with amount of text in this game it hit new heights). Visual style and general atmosphere is actually what dragged me for the most of it. Fighting system in this game is... well, not good. And the fact that you actually able to progress very far without ever engaging in a fight, kinda hits you in the back twice as hard.
I got this game when it launched, and somehow can't really "dig" into it because of the combat system. Maybe will try again with the end-product. Thanks for returning to previously reviewed games!

I’m with you on this. But then again, any game that gives me a 50/50 chance of hitting something 3 squares away just isn’t something I’m going to enjoy.

I see from the combat system it’s from the same guys that made Empire of Sin. It’s a Mafia RPG game on Xbox that’s is so good until the combat becomes insanely monotonous and tedious…

Sweet that you’re covering this again. I had forgotten it but will happily pick it up!
Futuristic Welrod, noticed that immediately, classic Splat only notices once he shot it :D
Yes AOD was a great game, I am like jow the release is going with diff parts of the ship maje me replay the game often. I wish you would give Stoneshard again it is amazing and an awesome hard-core RPG!
This is exactly what I want to play right now and the sound track omg awsome
Hahaha "I am going for charisma, if I can talk myself out of situations that is what I do." FIrst choice that comes across for interacting with people "What's this? Activate objective 8 fire on person Hell yeah, choose that" :P
Definitely gives a Fallout (1 or 2) vibe but 'in space'
AoD is one of my favorite games of all time, but by the time it was released I had already played every outcome to death. This time I'm gonna wait for full release.
Having recently read Book of the Long Sun a generational colony ship RPG sounds great.
You've convinced me, I'm buyn' this. Thank you Lord Splat for bestowing on to me yet another indie game!
It's hard to imagine what the ship was like when it was new.
'Who would have known you can fire through a porous cabinet' LMAO!
Been sick all week, and felt at death's door so just slept and hydrated for the majority of the time. Finally coming around, I got a whole bunch of Splatty vids to binge on :D
Been watching this one. Glad you are covering it.
I'd like to see this added to your stream schedule. I enjoyed watching you play it.
I am impressed. Reminds me of that Metro RPG. The initial brief just screamed "NEO SCAVENGER RPG" to me and I loved the rest 3:27 The best way to indicate difficulty 4:25 Full stats breakdown always cool
I played colony ship back when you first covered it. Got stuck help Jared or whatever his name was and quit playing. It’s still on my computer. Nice to see you came back to it.
Dude totally love this watching your Twitch stream right now
There is a game that is similar to this that i played between 20 and 25 years ago that i still regret not finishing. it was isometric, had a grid inventory ans you took on missions in space stations or spaceship that involved aliens or hostile humans i am pretty sure there is a "merc" component in the game, either you are the merc or you compete with mercs. I wish i could find the name of the game someday.

Harbinger?
I am impressed by the skill checks in this game, added wishlist gonna buy soon.
An advice for "newbies" to this kind of game - try not to make too much of a "jack of all trades" on your first playthrough. Either go full murderous psychopath or full smooth talker. After you got some knowledge about the game, then you can go and try to make a more versatile character to cover more content. That said, this game is considerably easier than this dev's previous game(Age of Decadence), which means it leaves more room for experimenting on a first playthrough. In AoD, splat would've probably had his ass handed to him on the very first fight with a character like that(even if the points aren't spread that thin).
I've had this game sitting on my wishlist a while now. Maybe I'll go ahead and pull the trigger on it. I'm looking forward to checking out this playthrough
Definitely most promising RPG, looking forward to playing this.
Feels very much like a heavily Shadowrun TTRPG (and/or Cyberpunk TTRPG) game system. I like. Thanks, Splat!
I feel like the entire "floor plan" was taken from The Descent. It all felt so familar and I realized it is the same exact layout without all the flashy lights and added stuff going on.
Thank you for covering this game again; not too long ago I was looking for it but couldn't quite remember the name and any attempt at searching for it by vague descriptions of what I remembered would result in a bunch of misses. I had it wishlisted on my Steam account from the first time you covered it, but that list has somehow become so bloated over the years that it's nigh-impossible to find anything specific on it. 😅
Thanks Splat!
Would love to see more of this!
Looking at it, seems like a game which actually reminds me of Fallout... Not in terms of gameplay, progression or similarity, but in terms of how it's thought out and crafted. It's well done
I really like the aesthetic, it's Fallout meets Shadowrun with extra bleakness.
Nice move tying charisma to party number. You could even have a separate leadership skill to level up or buffs/debuffs as traits (good/poor leader)
this looks great _!!_
Damn the evolution in engine from age of decadence is impressive. I love these guys approach, its kinda self indulgent but I wish they did a fantasy game with their unique spin but with a party.

A+ world building.

Not all of us want to get "straight into combat"...lol... Some of us do enjoy the lore and information in the beginning of games😉
that dialog was great lolz
Never heard of this game before seeing your video on here. Now that I have watched you play it this is basically just fallout tactics (which I think was the best fallout game ever) so, I am definitely up for playing post apocalyptic fallout in space.
Learned something new about knife fights too
Love what i am seeing here. Wishlisting.
would like to see you play more of this
I know you mentioned using stat packages like Gifted in Fallout, but Masters of Orion (MOO) series has similar packages. I usually try to buff up my science and research with such packages when playing MOO.
Oh yeah I bought it when you viewed it the first time. I liked it... need to go back and check out the new stuff.
22:57 it sure bring back those naked gun 33 1/3 antics. Rooftop shootout
👍👍 this looks awesome! Right up my street 👍👍
Wow, this game is really something. Good, solid writing, intricate character building that seems intelligent. They nailed the atmosphere and look. I like the realistic gameplay. Makes you go a more diplomatic route. I’d want to avoid combat as much as possible.
I can vouch for that the combat in age of decadence on top difficulty is insanely brutal. The only way you can win on top difficulty is through lucky rolls, good positioning and right weapons.
this is a beautiful game
reminds me alot of the newer Shadowrun games.
Thanks for your update on this great game, one of those games that has been in constant improvement since its release. like Astrox Imperium and Ostriv ( still being improved by its Ukranian devs in spite of the russkie onslaught). These are indie projects that outshine alot of triple A projects.

Black Will looks like that one body builder that played the Mountain in the later GOT seasons. Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson
this reminds me of the vault series
Noice, remember me the first game from Fallout series
Looks like a good little RPG! Don't know if you've played through Encased it ended up being a wonderful game. Would be nice if you took some time on a RPG Lets Play!
I'm not so sure about this game. It certainly doesn't look bad at all. But I love the setting: Travelling in a colony ship. Many years after it's departure and many years before it arrives. It's a great concept in my opinion. Reminds me a lot of the movie Pandorum (2009).
Was that a blazing saddles reference - loved that movie need to watch it again
It's probably best to mention what changed since the last time you've showcased this, how's the development process going, what people generally seem to think, etc.
I love the idea of essentially DayZ but on a failed generation starship with a MASSIVE ship map. Power outages, depressurized sections, toxic sections, fire and heat, cold, possibly contaminated food, dark, weird alien parasites running around, dead computer, looting survival gear...
Almost an hour? Got to be good
11:38 It was a clear black night, a clear white moon.
The conversation skill checks are D&D based DC difficulty checks. The conversation has a set limit to pass, your skill adds a modifier to the random roll. Even if it's green for skill check, there is still a small chance that you roll low. Or in your case, you rolled high or natural 20.
@Tudor_Rusan
Жыл бұрын
The non-combat skill checks are 100% deterministic, no rolls involved. The disposition system is a bit complicated, but essentially if you have higher Charisma you get a bonus so you can afford to fail some checks. On the other hand, if you have 4 Charisma you'll have a flat penalty to dialogues.
43:50 trivia: mews = meadows. So, that container was by the forest meadows sign.
2 years ago!?, dear-god(s) how incredibly depressing, how horrific time flies by! Looks very dark (story-wise), depressing world.
So, basically the difficulty choices are: HERO: "Lube? I mean... I got Vaseline. That works right?" UNDERDOG: Federal Prison "Romance" Simulator 3000
One of the developers definitely did sometime In the Military!😊
Regulators mount up Shut down, in a blaze of glory 😂😂😂
Silly Splat, you brought a gun to a knife fight! Seriously though, not a fan of how close quarter combat is working currently. You could do more damage with a BB gun.
Keep it up dude may your page prosper more like others tho hoped that your head ain't gonna be big like the others
Awesome! Is there another channel where you upload the streams?
reminds me of Shadowrun (not so much the PC games, but the tabletop game/universe)
