Collision Reporting Centres: Streamlining Collision Reporting and Repairs | Motoring TV Classics

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We take a look back at collision reporting centres from 1994. These centres were designed to streamline the process of reporting car collisions and getting vehicles repaired. They typically featured a central location where drivers could file a report and have their damaged vehicles assessed by professionals. These centres were a popular solution in the 1990s as they helped to reduce the workload for police officers and insurance companies.

(Brad apologizes to viewers and Jim Kenzie for using "accident" instead of crashes or collision, he was just a kid then!)

Interesting! I'm an auto claims adjuster in the States, and I don't think we have anything equivalent to this in the U.S. In busy areas, police simply won't respond to non-injury accidents; they'll just tell you to exchange information and let the insurance companies figure it out. I've even seen crashes in L.A. that sent people to the hospital only to find out that LAPD didn't write an accident report. Of course, it's a lot easier for insurance companies to write estimates from customer photos taken through their insurance company's version of CCC QuickEstimate or similar tools. I don't think the tow truck situation's gotten any better in Ontario. I had one claim with a customer who was part of a four-car rear-ending on the 401 that totaled three of the four cars and sent a passenger to the hospital. When I finally got the full report from OPP, it mentioned that several tow truck drivers who responded to the scene started fighting and had to be broken up by responding officers. Wild stuff.
