collective soul is a band who has the coolest guitar riff youll ever hear,i mean the song like heavy,where the river flows,trembel for my beloved,simple,listen,precious declaration and many others..brilliant guitarist..thats what separate them from other alternative bands...

yeah, About that self-title album, every song is nice. The tunes mentioned here?...The Riff's? Man! These Dude's are Something Else.

I would dare to say this is the best live version I have ever listened to if compares with the studio version. And it's not that the studio's is bad, the live one just rocks!!

I agree. I've been disappointed how Ed mostly sticks to singing of recent. Yes, there are some songs where he's on guitar, but it's always an acoustic, often a 12-string. I miss him being the third electric guitar in the line-up.

No band is ever as good as the key members

Man! That "Heavy" is one of the best CS performances I've ever seen on video. Ross is so in the zone on both of those songs.

This is What Rock sounds like!!

I was born in 1999, in between these two videos (February and September). Wish I was old enough to even know who the hell Collective Soul was, but I'm happy I discovered them in 2019. Took long enough. I get to see them live next month 3 times (all front row!) which is all I can think about now. A legendary band from the beginning to now.

OMG I'm glad you found them!!! My dad had me listening at an early age. completely went through a phase in my life where I was just listening to hip-hop/rap for a couple years... dug through some old boxes and found Collective Soul's first album (the same CD my dad and I would listen to). Popped it in the car and heard songs I haven't listened to in nearly 8-9 years... It was GREAT!

Better than the original if you ask me. These guys are still putting out new music and putting on great shows.

This is my favorite CS video. To hear and see such brilliance is absolutely priceless. Ross has got to be one of the most talented guitarists around. Show me somebody else who can do what he does. He never misses a chord whether he's playing acoustic or electric. Every single one of CS's songs from their first five albums sounds that much better because of him. What a terrible lost when he left the band...

I don't know if it came leading up to their blow up, or a result of it, but I don't like the way Ed has changed since the early 2000s, and the band lost a lot of character with Ross exiting, and then Shane shortly after. Personal issues aside, they were such a great team in the 90s. It's a real shame they couldn't keep it together.

If Collective Soul was a building, so Ed Roland is the designer and Ross Childress is the painter. Ed built it and Ross made it beautiful.

23 years later Collective Soul still rocks! Their new single All Our Pieces is good!

Been combing YT for live versions of Heavy.. This and the Woodstock 99 are the best IMHO. Ross Childress just slays it!

One of the best bands in the 90's. I loved the album after Dosage.

Fuck Ross!!!!! He’s a bitch!!!!! Ed wrote all the songs,Ed wrote shine. Ross is an overrated back stabbing bitch who would be unknown without Ed and has done shit all on his own!!!!

Ross is without a doubt one of the most progressive guitarists to emerge from the 90s, along with Mark Tremonti from Creed. C.S. will never be the same without Ross. Such a shame of what happened 😢

Collective Soul has been my favorite band since 1995 when their self titled album came out and it has been in my car ever since. With Ross their music was sooooooo much better. Without Ross, they haven't been the same. I still enjoy some of their post Ross music but I think about what might have been had things transpired differently.

I totally agree with you! They've been my favorite since about the same time. Their music started going downhill when they went indi and got rid of Ross. The 90s definitley were their glory years, and Dosage was by far their highest quality stuff.

Yeah but he quit. Listen to some of their songs from this year....Yuck! Started liking this band when "Dosage" cd came out.

Both hosts roll their eyes everytime they announce the band. When I broke both their necks it was for a different reason... And don't worry both hosts are aliens too, and just shapeshifts back to normal

I miss Ross Childers. His riffs was bad azz. Their replacement for Ross. Is not near as good.

Ross Childress was the best. CS was a great band, but without RC's guitar genius they were just average.

Ed always wrote all the songs until recently. He is a genius and makes them who they are. Tons of good guitar players as good as Ross out there.

Ross Childress is just from another planet. Every CS live video I've watched, he always stole the show, went crazy with the guitar nobody else could do. The shows after he left, including concerts I've ever watched, were more balanced with Ed Roland as dominant figure. Even Eddie VH wasn't really like this in Van Halen shows, Ross guitar just couldn't stop.

I'm sorry Joel...But, Damn! Ross is the SHIT!!!

I wonder if the band realizes how missed Ross is.
