Collecting my 1987 Vespa T5 Mk1 from Cornwall Scooter Center - 01208 72966

Haven't ridden a scooter in over 20 years so decided today was the day haha. Riding it like I stole it - literally! I look back at this video and laugh, how bad was that riding! After many many miles since then, I'm glad to report that I am now confident and safe (I also have the proper gear now lol and not tracksuit bottoms that ride up my legs)

Back in 2000-2001 I lived in Berrycombe Vale and never got to meet anyone cos a) the locals all hated me being a wide boy south London lad and b) no one local did anything so I just mooched about in me MK2 Granada Estate and my poor T5 just gathered dust in the shed :( In the process of putting my C reg MK1 back on the road, first 1000 build run too in metallic black with custom side panels, custom front muddy and just adding some "Cylon" chrome indicators this week, sadly not the original engine but has an Indian P200 "Xpress" 11hp and a ringdingding Simonini, P200 carb, alloy wheels, very swift and eye catching and will cruise 75+ all day long too.

Quite funny in them lot hating on me, at 10:20 the pub on the right was once upon a time owned by famous south London gangster Charlie Richardson, prob the only place in Bodmin that no one spat at me calling me an emmett under the breath :P

Nice original looking squareback T5. You'll find your starts less jumpy if you install a Cosa clutch, Yer mate on the bike is a bit of a typical cnut, though, revving his engine just to make the kiddies jump. Don't know the guy, but if that's his amusement, he's already told me all I need to know. 🙂

It could have had remedial stuff done to the lump and its always a bit skitty first runs esp the cruciform needs to shave off its edges and the gear pack needs to settle in post stripdown. Cosa clutch is a good upgrade but then any performance clutch kit will make life more fun, dropping a tooth also can liven up the pullaway a lot without sacrificing too much top end. Cables could also be new with too much stretch needing adjusting out.
