Those are beautiful styles of Hull

My grandfather was Robert Hull of Hull Pottery who lived in Zanesville, Ohio. Still have many pieces in storage. Two of the brown piggy banks I still use. I have lots of the wildflower stuff. My favorite collection that if are the band figures (5, I think). I have some of the brownware including a big serving platter on my coffee table. Cheers from Texas! 🍻

That was so interesting,loved hearing the clock chiming.The tiles were beautiful and the fish vase(they are known as gurgle jugs in England,they gurgle when you pour water from them.

I didn't know much about Hull,it was good to learn about American history in ceramics.I looked on Google to see if they exported to New Zealand as the brown drip glaze was so popular in the 1970's.Didn't find anything but will continue to look.

As a kid with a sweet tooth, I hated those ceramic cookie jars … my mother and her bionic ears could hear the cookie jar lid from the farthest reaches of the house. Another very interesting video. A+

...and between Hull and McCoy i would choose Hull

I collected Hull pottery in the 1990s. I was a young woman and enjoyed collecting and displayed proudly about 35 pieces. A F4 tornedo took my house down and ofcourse I lost my Hull

You should take a look at the National Museum of American History out of Washington DC. They do a lot of exhibits that focus on history and cultural trends. I even ran across things they have available for research. Company papers donated documenting that company’s design history, catalogues, and company records. Most are not digitized collections yet. Identified as box # contains 20-30 items. Linking antiques and collectibles to cultural trends and history just makes them come alive and become relevant. You do a good job making those connections. Bravo!

My housemate and very good friend (who is also named Mike) doesn't actively collect Hull, but he never turns down a reasonably priced piece when he finds one. He has a pair of vases that still have the paper labels on them. I occasionally joke about "finally got those labels off for you. No need to thank me."

I just discovered you, you are great----I love Hull pottery ..I have a growing collection just because I like the patterns and colors...I have not looked at your prior "collecting" videos but did you do one on Haeger? One thing with Hull, in 1950 or so, there was a fire at the factory and when they rebuilt, they could not really reproduce the quality of the matte finish---so the woodland pattern has all of the stages--pre fire matte, post fire matte (of poorer quality) and then finally the gloss finish..so after the fire, Hull just produced gloss finishes...(I think?)

That is true I did see that when I was going through their history. I have not done one on Haeger yet but have done Roseville and McCoy. I’ll add haeger to the list of ones to do. Glad you found us and hopefully the content keeps you around 🙂

We are in MI

When I was growing up in the early 60s, we had a cookie jar in what I thought was a school house. It was red and white With a bell tower on top. I have looked high and low for one just like it but have been unable to find it. Have you seen One?

Hi. Thanks for this informative video. I collected Hull in the early 2000s and I have about 15 pieces. I don't really want to decorate with these beautiful Hull pieces anymore as my taste has become more modern. However, I can't decided if I should sell them now, or store them away and wait for an increase in value. Thoughts? Thank you! :)

Value is down alittle on pottery so probably best to hold but you never know if you find another collector what they would pay

😊 I think I have a tulip Hull vase but it’s not marked and I can’t find another one with the same arms. Where else should I look?

TYFS! I used to think Hull & Rosville were ugly, love the shapes and flowers, the color palette not so much. I have sold a few pcs I picked up for $1-5, for $20-45. I currently have the what I call " the ugly duckling". And a handled basket (green) that you photoed. Thru last 20 yrs or so I've seen live auction prices go from $160 a pc to $15. Everyone scared to buy, too many reproductions out there, plus that has driven price down. When the 40's decor rolls back around, the price will go up. I'd like to learn anything you know on American Bisque Co. ? Show samples please? Thanks again!😜

I hate that anything that’s 70 years old can sell for $5.00 . I’m glad to see there’s some Hall pottery selling for larger amount. What really makes me mad is I have some dolls handed down to me from my grandma . I’m planning to hand down to my granddaughter . I’m almost embarrassed to do so . There over 100 years old and there’s some Holiday Barbies made in the last 10 years worth as much .

Yea that is a sad part to antiques. Dolls are a tough sell right now but possibly by the time your granddaughter gets older they have came back around and are worth some good money 🤷🙂
